Reed, thank you very much for you continuing advice.

Since i have an older Holley 1945 that has no solenoid or other electronics, i think it has a "ported spark tube" as i gathered from another post of yours.

In that post you say that the ported spark tube gives the same signal as for the vacuum advance for the vacuum-based distributor. Here's the picture you have:

I have the same port in the same location, and that's where the previous meddler connected the ESA signal tube that goes to the transducer for the computer (event though nothing else seems to be connected to the computer).

So, if i am thinking right, then that would be doing nothing right for the computer, cause it's a different signal. But on the other hand, if i get a vacuum-advance distributor, i could run it to that and have a real simple spark advance, all based on vacuum, and leave the computer completely out of the whole thing, and even remove it.

Does that sound right?

See here is my carb and that smaller port that's below the connection to the canister, that is the one that is routed to the transducer of the computer right now.

I have that same setup. Does anyone know if that port on a 1945 Holley will run a vacuum advance distributor if we connect directly from that port to the dizzy and be in business?

Yes per picture, the big hose on the right is the PCV at the valve cover... the next one to the left is direct to the vacuum advance pod on the distributor
(ported vacuum).

In this truck it currently goes to the fitting at the intake manifold (mine has 2 fittings one goes to power brake boosterand heater control, the second fitting has and electrical connection and this line from the carb going in and the egr amplifier is also connected t it.

So you are saying it can go straight to dizzy then. I won't be using the egr as its blocked off anyhow. Thanks forthe help. If anyone has facebook i can send plenty of photos to explain but can't get them to upload here.
