Good for you. Looking forward to hear more how you like it. The OD in my Dart Lite was super, and I LOVE my late model Challenger with the 0.5 6th gear OD.....75 mph at 1750 RPM !
V8 or six on the Charger?
Sam
5.7L V8 (Challenger R/T) with the 6 speed manual. 5th is OD too (about .83, I think)

The only issue I see with cruising in town in 2nd gear is that it possibly putting more wear on the gear that tends to wear out fastest anyway. But a lot of that wear is in the synchros and dogs and has to do with shifting rather than running, so maybe it does not much matter.

It would be possible to make a faceplate for the gauge pod for the light, which would then be at eye level. Right now I must glance down as i am slowing down to make sure I am disengaging OD. This takes my eyes off the road, which I do not like.
Bravo, Sir.
It's nice to know that others hold driving ergonomics as a major player in their cobbles as well.

Thank you. I just checked out your photos. A lot of interesting, creative, and well crafted projects there. I love them all. Thanks for sharing.

Ergonomics is the difference between a touring car and a trailer queen.

Ergonomics puts the user first and the machine in a position of service.....rather than the other way around.

I like the term Egonomic Styling.....

may just leave it manual if I like it enough. This automatic computer deal introduces another level of complexity
I wonder if something akin to this might be a simpler, less fiddly and more ergonomically acceptable level of semi-automation.

Or perhaps drive it from the megasquirt? Set it to activate an output at high rpm, low load (higher vacuum) conditions.

Thanks for digging that up Dan. I think I see where you are headed with it. It is food for thought, but requires a speed sensor. Once I get that working it might be easier to just use the GV system. It certainly opens one's mind. Last I knew, Lou had a 518 in his 68. Something like this might of interest to him.

I have had an A500 in my 68 Dart since 2001. I have one rocker switch for OD and one for LU. I engage/disengage them when my brain decides it is time, and I find the switches by feel, not looking. I have some pressure/vac switches in stock to make it more automatic, but never bothered to hook them up....

I have a hard time with an establish vendor of a product that has been around for years not have everything in order. I just don't get it. It is a very expensive improvement and should not have to be altered and modified to get it to work. It should work right out of the box, and come with great instructions to make your purchase and install as pain free as possible. Maybe I am just crazy.

You are dead right, Rick. Hard to see how this should not just work for that kind of coin. Not exactly a difficult application either. Still, I'll be excited to see the car with the GV at M-D...

Yep, Rick you are right. I have given them every chance to make this right, and they are till not up to speed. I got the gear drive for the tail shaft yesterday, but not the short speedo cable that is supposed to make the interface between the signal generator and electronic speedo drive work better. He SAID he would put it in the same box, but no, it was not there.

I sent Tim an email telling him of this, and have not heard back. They still owe me that short cable, as I paid for it, and they sent the wrong one. I think you will agree that I have been kind to them with my words on this forum so far, and have not expressed my frustration publicly. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt, but they have not stepped up to the plate completely yet.

I went ahead and mounted the indicator light in the A pillar pod, and removed they knock gauge. This is needed because the switch to engage the OD feels the same off and on. It is a button that toggles with no change in feel. Depress once; off. Depress again; back on. So just feeling tells you nothing. The light is essential. All done now.

If I do not get this speedo cable thing worked out, I will explore a GPS driver for the electronic speedometer. They have them listed in Jegs, but do not know enough about these things to know if it is compatible with the Autogage electronic speedo. It should not be too hard to figure it out.

I deal with tech support and customer service all the time on complex expensive products...... the changing of personnel often causes a lot of problems like this one. New people may have NO auto background or interest..

And the GV head guy(s) may be great mechanical guys but could be pretty dumb on electrical stuff. They may have had an outside person/group design the electrical stuff but not have a bought any tech support from them, and have no real knowledge themselves, and no ability to see electronic issues (like low noise thresholds in newer solid state integrated circuits) and no ability to troubleshoot. And sourcing electrical/electronic parts is a whole different animal than gears, shafts, housing castings, etc.... I expect the electronics knowledge pool on this forum greatly exceeds that of GV (from what I have seen from posts).

Sam has been more than patient and kind with his words for G.V. And whether or not they lost personnel is still not Sam's problem. They have to know their own product and make it right one way or another. And while the knowlege base on .org may be able to fix the problem, they should not be required to try. I just heard a local car dealer that has this motto for every sales person on staff. " If a customer walks in with any problem, I will own it, and do whatever it takes to fix it" That is a good motto.

Ain't arguing at all. Just thinking of possible reasons. And a mechanical oriented house may never become good with electronics.... that may be the long term take-away for this situation with GV.....
