Nice score! Somebody spot-check me here, but does anyone else think that second trans looks like a short tailshaft housing 727? Or is that just the angle of the picture messing with me? Hang on- I looked closed at the pictures. I believe that second trans is a Ford unit, either a C4 or C6. Those taillights look very similar to Mustang or Cougar taillights. |

Very first pic shows a GM bellhousing on that other tranny. |

Yeah, I don't recall the C4/C6 having that funky angled area missing on one side of the bell housing. Something makes me think: 2 speed GM Powerglide. |

The tail lights, I turned them over and looked. They both had FORD stamps, so the idea that it's all-together is out - are you guys saying the one attached to the motor is not mopar, but Chevy? If so is it worth leaving? |

The trans attached to the slant is a Mopar trans, almost certainly a 904. The loose transmission on the pallet is a GM trans. Mostly good for scrap or as a boat anchor. ![]() |

Valve cover decal has a 7-digit Chrysler part number ending in 844. The last three digits are big like that because they differed by vehicle configuration: automatic or manual transmission, Federal or California or Canada or Export or High Altitude emissions, 1bbl or 2bbl, standard duty or heavy duty, etc. The sticker was a visual match-up deal to help ensure the right engine was installed in a vehicle coming down the assembly line, and the last 3 digits would also appear on the vehicle's build sheet (which accompanied the vehicle down the line). Picture's too blurry to see what the smaller first four digits are on that decal. |

As usual, Dan, you're a vast ocean of information. Mine originally had a 231 on it, which a couple of people argued was the cubic inch displacement. I quit pulling my hair out telling them it's a 225 and gave up. |

I don't know if I should take them, they look like maybe mercury or some kind of mustang lights, or maybe a truck? I don't know. I don't want to snag something he needed to finish a project. |
