Extension looks like a hunk of aluminum Can't you just machine one? |

If I can get away with drilling an additional hole in the existing extension, I'll do it. Fabricating a new one is beyond my capabilities. The only multi-hole filter extension I've found so far is the one included in this Moroso aluminum pan. It actually has 3 holes, but it looks like 2 of them match up with the ports in the early filter. Not sure what the 3rd hole is for. Regardless, I don't want to drop $200 on this. The whole reason I bought the Mopar pan was the $60 price tag. I don't necessarily need a deep pan. I'll update this thread again when I finally get around to disassembling and inspecting. For now I'm just waiting, and thinking too much. |

You can either drill a hole in your existing alum extension, OR buy one from Torqueflite Patty (or Patti? Look on Ebay). Something like $40. I bought one for our LeMons car not long ago, and I think it was from him. Lou |

Wanted to post a follow-up for future readers. I bought a 2-hole filter extension from Torqueflite Patty (Pat Blais) and installed it before the recent LeMons race at MSR Houston. This fixed the problem. The car now shifts up and down in a predictable manner. So if you're having a problem like I described, check and make sure you didn't put a 1-hole filter on your pre-66 transmission. Now getting this cheap Mopar Performance pan to seal correctly is a different matter. When I get a chance, I'm going to drop the pan again, heli-coil every bolt hole, and reinstall it with a better gasket. |
