Several people have taken air from the cowl vent using homemade boxes. Seymour's streetcar and racecar have this feature. I agree that is a good solution as well. Personally, I use my floor vents in my streetcars all the time, so I do not want them crossed over to the intake tract (noise, fuel). Lou |

I'm with you on that, Lou. Also, the leakiness of the summer vents even when they're closed is a bit concerning as far as noise/fumes goes. I could always permanently block it of, but then this seems like a lot more work than making a simple hole in the core support. |

Another point against it would be having it annoy others in the car. Mine doesn't "pass gas" when running, as the air flow inside the shunt is to the carb. It only builds up when it's stopped with the engine off, and then only on hot days with the windows closed, and the cabin heated up. However, even though it evacuates quickly upon opening and/or operating, it's noticeable for some seconds initially. This'd make it unacceptable for many. I once had a bud ask about the possibility of it reaching ignition point capability. I had to chuckle at the thought of that level of saturation. Technically conceivable, I suppose. Likely in this existence? Maybe on Mythbusters at frustration level ......with an aftermarket aluminum head. |

What Sandy said about Aspens is what I did on my Volare, I enlarged the hole on the passenger side core support for a little fresh air induction. |
