Hey Lou, if I'm not sure on spacers or no, I should get longer studs with the rear axles, right? I could trim them down if I don't need the extra length. How long are your studs with the wheels using spacers (and what's your thickest spacer)?

Longer studs may be needed on front or rear or both. There are Milodon or Moroso stud kits for our Chrysler apps, available from Summit and similar places. I have cut mine down to about 2" length (sticking out past the hub), but you can get away with less length in general. If you can find 7" wide rims with offset in the +10-20 mm range, you should not require spacers or long studs.

off set and backspace are related

as wheel width increases.....backspace increases.....even when offset does not.

Yes, as I understand it, backspacing is the distance from the mounting surface to the inside edge of the wheel, and offset is how much the mounting surface is "off" alignment with the true centerline of the wheel. If two wheels are the same width, they can have different backspacing depending on what the offset is.

What I'm surprised at, is after so many years, like 50 years, someone hasn't documented in one place, various wheel/tire combo's (or just measurements for each setup) for A-body's, by year, axle, brake type, etc. We have so much collective knowledge and this one seemed to get passed over, even though so many folks have issues with it.

Hey Lou,

Where can one find hub centric spacers for LBP setup? I believe for LBP axles, the hub is 2.85" (72.39mm). I can't find anyone online that sells hub centric centers this size, some are close, but none that size. Are yours custom made?

Gentlemen, allow me to throw in my hard-earned two cents. :wink:

I have had 15" x 7" inch Mopar cop car wheels on my '78 Volare for several years, tire size is usually 235 x 60.

Some Volares and Aspens came with 15" x 7" factory wheels, and some came with 15" x 8" wheels. and some came with 14" wheels.

I like the ride, and I like how they look. However, they do seem kinda heavy. I've thought about looking around for a set of aluminum wheels (aftermarket) in 15" x 7". maybe 14" on the front.

What do ya'll think? Dan, what do you think?
