I will be in Belize next Wednesday. I'll let them know you're coming. I'm not driving though, I'll be on a big boat. |

Sorry,... Wasn't meaning to look at limitations. Lets not start with limitations ....lets start with zeal. Just looking at how I might make it work. I should probably just wait until I retire... Someday... Zeal away my friend! |

If you can get guys to drive 12,000 miles in a car, please tell us your secret. I have trouble getting them to drive 100 miles to come to a Slant 6 race. My back hurts just thinking of your trip! I think I will just drive to Clay City instead Rick |

Rob: I want to make it work as well. In order for this years trip to work all involved had to remain open to all possibilities. My wife has a job that limits time off .....so she had a plane ticket both ways to and from Cabo.....just in case I wasn t there when she was. We got to Cabo 2 days before she landed. She was impressed enough to cancel her ticket home and ride back. To be honest I was never absolutely sure the car could do the trip on schedule....so I didnt make one. Keep the concept in mind....and see if it sticks. Rick: Really comfortable seats , whisper quiet exhaust and wind seals are key to long trips. Destinations that appeal are another key. My wife is not into long miles.....but she loves to swim in warm oceans on deserted beaches in November. Ive been to slant races in Las Vegas, St Louis and Hagertown....all of them over 1000 miles from home. ......its a matter of wanting to make it happen. Lou arrived here this summer.....2300 miles. Thats drive. |

Lovin' the developing discussions here. Starting to dream. I would vote for fewer cars and 3-4 people per car. Switch off passengers and drivers here and there. Lou |

I agree fewer cars equals easier logistics. Swapping passengers and drivers diversifies destinations. In Baja the DeSoto was used for airport shuttle, beach trips, shopping trips and gallery visits. People joined up for activities that interested them. Denyse was the catalyst for the 7am swims.....Jack for neighbourhood exploration and Kyle and Keeley for destination dining. The diehard expeditionists might go the whole way (likely the car/truck owners)....but Im thinking others may wish to skip Utah....or Sonora. If the route encompassed smaller safer cities with international airports ( like Manzanillo) we might attract those with limited time off (Rob or Wayne) or family and spouses. My wife (De)is a veteran of " fly in and be picked up " and can answer many questons about how that can work. Sample West Coast pickup points on my 2013 route to Colima: Salt lake City Las Vegas Mazatlan Puerta Vallarta Guadalahara Manzanillo. My wife flew into Manzanillo for $250cdn from Canada (Westjet) |

I saw the title and thought you were talking about the race as well! My buddy and I have been talking about taking the LeMons car down for the Chihuahua Express road rally. One of these years. |

The race is attractive ,,,except I can winter in Mexico.......for the whole winter just for the entry fee,,,, that and all the hotel and travel is too Gringo for my taste. My car fits into Tourista Major....a little over my head. I might do a drive through though..... |
