ok i just checked comp cams and they recommend 8-9:1 compression. ill just stick with 9:1 or so. i feel like with those upgrades i should be able to get 200 hp or so if it is built right d. idk but does the motor i would like to build sound like a 200hp daily driver or am i way off.

With 9.25 CR (yes I decked the block and milled the head)

Super6 with a lightly modded BBD 2.25 exhaust Big Valves , chamber work Bowl work and an Erson 280/270 cam I figger I made mebbe 170-180 hp.....mebbe .....and thats after lots of advance curve work. (It does make piles of torque!)

There are better cams than Comp....and they know $#!+ about slants

200 hp at the crank is do able, but will need more to make that jump...

Comp cam 252 + super six + 9.2:1 SCR = 160-170 HP at crank (depending on how good of a port job you do).

Comp Cam 252 + 4 barrel intake + 9.2:1 SCR - up to 180 HP at crank
(any more SCR or more cam advance will raise the DCR that it will need to on super and/or better octane).

Erson 270/270 + 4 barrel intake + 10.3:1 SCR = 196+/- HP at crank...

You will also have to dial in a suitable ratio to keep the cam and build happy, and that may involve use of a aggressive rear ratio coupled with an overdrive to keep your mileage up for a daily driver...

If you are used to the stock engine...and build the RV cam/9:1 ratio engine with upsized exhaust and a super six, it will be a night and day difference anyway...but you have to watch it...with that kind of power increase, be prepared to need brakes, better rear end, transmission upgrades as the next week link will break as you put stress on those components.

im more concerned about tq than hp anyway. and i am planning to upgrade to a 3.23 8 1/4 suregrip rear end soon. im am in the process of putting brakes on it right now. i feel like it will handle a decent/mild build like i am planning.

What you are planning makes sense.

Dont worry about horsepower worry about driveability.

A strong Super 6 build will drive nicely and surprise many a "bolt on" build
