Nothing personal Mike, but so far all you have done is post links to information that has been on the board for 15 years.

I am old and resistant to change, but do enjoy collecting knowledge and especially better ways to do things. Please, enlighten me. :)

Well there is not a lot of new info on how t build an engine and since the op asked about increasing his performance, it seems to me that it is likely he didn't see any performance upgrades on the site if he searched for them or may not be aware they are there . imo, your post suggests that everyone should not post any info other than links to the site since pretty much everything there is to know about these engines is there anyway, and if that is the case, which I am sure t is after viewing this site many times over several years, there is not really any purpose for a forum where people can make comments.

Also, it seems impractical to me for one to hand type a lengthy explanation about something if something already exists on the subject like Doug Dutra's post does.

Also, if you read ALL the posts I have made, you will find one on radiators where I posted info that no one else on that particular thread did, therefore, to use this thread only as a barometer of what I may or may not know, is not reasonable.

I am well aware there are no dedicated "kits" to do this with since I have "stroked" slant 6's before,
....any real information coming out of this? or are we just listening to a reposter ? Are we going to hear what you did?, what the stroke ended up at? what the final CR was? What cam you used?

I smell poo.

I suggest you change your shorts then or quit attacking people for no reason and learn some manners.

Mike,

You came here, unannounced, and started bandying on about "stroker kits" of which there are none, to another new member. This board has one of the best signal to noise ratios of any I've seen and is the only one I frequent as a result. As such I'm protective of the board and of the people coming here for advice. On the surface your advice appeared tossed off and misleading. I'm all for second chances, but you're the one who's walked into the cantina, if you will. How this goes is pretty much up to you and whatever graciousness and humility you care to express.

Everybody take a deep breath. This is a community of SlantSix enthusiasts.

Having built a long rod, that is also a true stroker, I'll be the first to suggest that such an endeavor not be entered into lightly. The forged piece I took into the crank specialty shop came back stroked for about $750. I didn't pussy foot around, it was stroked to 4.475"
It's not a cheap way to go. If, knowing that, somebody wants to pursue such endeavors, it makes astounding torque, but as mentioned above elsewhere, it's not going to turn very tight, and there will be problems getting the system to breath properly. I have about $10k in the Hooptie power-train.

Welcome to our new member. I hope you can understand our protective instincts for our new members.
I was attempting to gain control of the width of the frame, and killed one of your photos that was giving me grief. If you could, keep photo width and size relatively small.

I simply used the term "kit" loosely, which I can see was an error with this crowd, however, if some members attack every new member with this voracity and type of rude remarks simply because they don't like the way someone phrased something, you simply won't get many if any new members at all to stick around, but it is obvious that this is the way some of the longer term members prefer to have it . If some people have nothing better to do than argue about terms or semantics, it seems pretty petty and pretty sad to me.

Also, there is a phrase that goes, "Don't start nothin and there won't be nothin." . It's one of the many rules I live by, however, it appears to be one that some people here either never heard of or simply ignore because they enjoy being argumentative and condescending.

Hope yo had a safe and fun 4th of July!

Regards;

Mike

Mike,

Your demonstrated care and attitude were lacking and as such you were called out. I gave my motivations for questioning and correcting your misinformation. New people show up regularly. They generally introduce themselves and are welcomed. A recent example: http://slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=59863

You may have something to offer here, but I have yet to see it.

Sandy,

Thanks for that. I see Mike has behaved similarly on other boards and been banned/restricted on at least two.
