There seems to be a strange anomaly here. Possibly because slant six BBD's being rebuilt with choke thermostat linkages from 318 BBD's. Did the choke thermostat arm from slant six's at the time work on the 318 carb linkage? Maybe there was a strange factory part mix up from Carter during this time...Didn't Carter go out of business sometime in the early 80's (to mid 80's) and Holley bought and continued the manufacture of Carter Carburetors for a number of years thereafter? New management, can equal new employees to intermixing parts...thought I'd throw that out there.

No.[/quote] I distinctly did read that some manufacturing of Carter carburetors was still continued by it's buyers. Not Holley? them who?

The choke shaft linkage on my carb is for a sl6 and worked for 79' + cars but some how don't work for sl6 cars that wern't installed with 2 \barrels.

I think the Carbsonly.com electric choke kit #1232 is not an exact fit and why the slant6 choke linkage needs the adapter (not because it's a 318 BBD)

Edelbrock bought the rights to the AFB and AVS 4-barrel designs, and those are still in production in good quality. Nothing to do with OE-type 2bbls or 1bbls.

There is just one kind of \6 BBD choke lever.

Yes, it is, as long as you have the \6 BBD choke lever.

No, it's because it's a V8 choke lever on the carb.

77 78 carbs are the most common by far. Not too many 79,s out there. 1979 was the last year for slant bbd in usa. 14-1045 was the choke lever for 77 78 and 7-341 was the choke valve, hole,{except carb 8149}. Late 78 for trucks and 79 for cars 14-1079 was the choke lever and 7-346 was choke valve no hole.
