That would be great if the attendance and first round points would count since the slacker Soard didn't show up. Jeff and James are friends so that would be pretty funny. James has Stepp's '64 Valiant wagon that he really likes and he drives all the time. Thanks for the kind words about the event. Mark |

I think that is the best way to handle it so as to not disadvantage the other racers. Here's the point breakout for what turned out to be a 1 round race: Rusty Heisten - 15 Jeff Strahl - 15 Seymour Pederson - 15 Bill Kendall - 15 Austin Goodman - 5 Howard Darnell - 5 "Buy Back" - 5 I'll post the update in the Championship thread shortly. |

I brought this quote over from the championship thread. I didn't know where my comment fit best so I put it here. Quote: I think Mark has "Buy Backs" name. He was a nice kid that just wanted to get in a few more runs and I hope he comes to our races in the future. In thinking back what we should have done is had somebody else buy back and had the two of them race each other then give the third round bye to the winner of the buy back race who would go into the final round that wouldn't count for points. That way all the other racers could have had all their points count. Just a thought if this ever happens again.
Seymour you are way too nice!! I think the real issue is with the track. If we can't run our races as we need to then we will continue to run into this at new venues! Hopefully they will get on board for the next time around! If he really is a nice kid, and he may be, then let's start by not lying to Mark. I also would welcome him back because we need more, and new racers, but only if he agrees to follow our rules. It may be different at Tulsa, but at all the other tracks I have been to, we don't use the tracks ladder or anything. We do our random drawing. We come to the staging lanes paired up however we need to and that is on us. The tracks computer system is along for the ride. It really stinks that Mark works hard to get a new venue and has a decent turnout, and then it gets messed up. Think of it this way. What if there was 9+ cars, and Rusty would have been within a round or two of winning the championship and this young man and the track would have allowed this to happen. We'd all feel pretty bad. Thanks for all the hard work Mark! |

I like the Tulsa track, always enjoy the time there. If I get it right, sounds like the racer didn't care about points and just wanted to go down the track.. I understand the track's position on "Buy Backs" as it is pure profit for them. But maybe you can work with them in the future. |
