Either the pressure was too much for him or banging gears in Ron & Kay's 4 speed Valiant did him in... Just kidding about the $189.34. It was the 4 speed... Or just that Ron is kinda hard to beat... ) Round 3: Gary Bruner (12.66 @53.05 on 12.72 / .0332 RT) v Rick Covalt - Rick won (8.53 @ 78.70 on a 8.50 / .0122 RT) Jack Everhardt Jr. (11.22 @ 61.46 on a 11.20 / .1635 RT) v Ron Hamby - Ron won (7.72 @79.41 on a 7.70 / .0099 RT) Final: Rick Covalt (8.60 @78.34 on a 8.50 / .5683 RT - Car pushed at the line ) v Ron Hamby - Ron won (7.89 @71.16 on a 7.69 / .0744 RT) Points: Ron Hamby - 45 Rick Covalt - 35 Gary Bruner - 25 Jack Everhardt Jr. - 25 Greg Ondayko - 15 Brian Droschak - 15 Andrew Shank - 15 Charlie Schmid - 5 Jack Everhardt III - 5 Dale Hamby - 5 Norm Foster - 5 Ryan Covalt - 5 Mark Charapich - 5 Tim Charapich - 5 Quick highlights: There wer 4 Father/Son teams racing Rick and Ryan Covalt Jack Jr. and Jack III Everhardt Mark and Tim Charapich Ron and Dale Hamby Norm Foster's son Bryan was there, but Norm wouldn't let him race. Gary's daughter Courtney was there as well. She has raced with us before Ron and Dale faced each other in the first round both days. Dale was driving Ron's 66 Dart that he has had since high school. I will post some more highlights and photos later. I've gotta get back to Fort Belvoir and finish my homework! |

Just got home at 5:00 this evening. We had a great time with our slanted family even though it was hot and humid!(Did I say I hate summer?) Great to see Rob back in the states again! I sure hoped to give Ron a better race in the final, but when I brought the car up on the convertor it pushed in just a bit & I knew I was toast. Either I could leave like I normally did and surely red light or try and delay my launch and try not too red-light! I did the latter and had a blazing .568 light! Ron passed me about half track and cruised to the win! Congrats to Ron on another double win! Ron has a perfect season going!!! Thanks to Ron and Kay for organizing this great race and for Kay and Barbara & the girls for feeding us. We missed some of our regulars this time, but it would not take much for this to become a 50 point race! Thanks again! Rick |

This is one I wished I could have attended but car is apart and has a long ways to go. Glad everyone had a great time. Some really nice rides were seen at Empire Dodge. Congrats on the win Ron! Rick that Valiant is so nice! I had to take a picture of it! <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/26702711@N02/35985423881/in/dateposted-public/" title="Covalt's Valiant"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4305/35985423881_df6c34e8fa_z.jpg" width="640" height="360" alt="Covalt's Valiant"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |

Post subject: | Greg Ondayko and Ruster |
Greg does a great job of documenting his build of "Ruster". I'm always impressed when I see Greg at the track. He is very precise and focused. He was runner up on Friday. I got a couple shots of him reviewing the data on Ruster and an interesting bit of Slant 6 advertising he displays in the window. The track announcer was calling Greg "Mad Max"...
