Hey Dennis! It's good to see you posting here! You need some super light front runners on the front of your Valiant convertible! That thing is FAST with you bangin' gears with that three on the tree! ![]() I haven't even looked at the Challenger since a couple weeks before the Clay City race. I'm maybe just a tad burned out at the moment... The rear wheels aren't back from the powder coater yet. Luckily, those could be saved and I won't have to use the 29.5# per wheel steel wheels I got from Speedway as a desperate replacement measure. I'll probably have to run tubes now, but that's okay. Once I get the rear wheels back I'll post a weight comparison between them and the steel wheels. That's gonna be huge! |

Quote: It is not just the static weight that needs to be considered. Consider the front tires/wheels/brake rotors or drums as flywheels that need to be accelerated from a dead stop.
One of the defunct Mopar mags ran an A-B test about 20 years ago on a big block B-body using street tires/wheels vs. "race". IIRC, there was a definite improvement of about two tenths. Yep agree.! |

2 tenths? Doubtful......I've never even seen 2 hundredths. |

I don’t doubt the 2 tenths. When you compare a full set of street wheels and tires with a full lighter race set the savings would be significant along with the flywheel effect. Just a few degrees of weather or trans temp can make that change. |

If that is the case then big, heavier Slicks in the back should have the same affect, right? Just thinkin! |

These 15X12 rear wheels weigh 10# each. That’s compared to the steel 15X10 wheels I got from Speedway at 29.5# each. A significant weight savings there. I’m glad they could be saved. |
