On tin top solid fuel carbs, small venturi , slant six used ,086 jet. Large venturi 318 carbs used .089 or .092 jets. About 1978 some 318,s got the small venturi and ,086 jet. In that last link carter says just drop down the jet number, use same metering rod.
Perfect that will get me a good starting point, thanks!

As for the autolite carb, by the time I buy the carb as well as an adapter (dont see any online) and a new air cleaner I may as well just poney up a couple extra hundred and buy an Offy with a Holley 390.

8110s was a factory carb for slant with large venturi and 120-392 jet, carter number, size .092. Metering rod 2203. and step up piston spring 61-226. For right now leave jet alone. That spring is important, too long and stiff, stages early and hard stays on too long, too rich all the time. Too short and soft stages late may never fully stage too lean all the time. Carter used many different springs to match application.

Rochester 2G to Holley 2300, about $30 from Summit. The jeep guys love this carb, so conversion kits are available on eBay. I would choose the Offy over the super six any day. Even thou the only advantage is a bigger hole where you mount the carburator. The Edelbrock 500avs is a better carb then the Holley 390.

]Ok that,s not a factory slant six carb. 1973 one year only air bleed, metering rods not adjustable. Time to start over. This will have theory of operation. http://imperialclub.org/Repair/Lit/Films/273/index.html

Look down your carb for 2 brass tubes sticking up into air stream. That 73 may not have tubes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvClMVh4yQc
