There are plenty of entertaining videos on YouTube. I have not ridden the Dragon, but will one of these days. I have ridden most of the Blue Ridge Parkway, but that is more of a scenic ride.

That's probably why I haven't done it. As Dennis said, there are dozens of awesome roads right near my house. When I lived in the Midwest, I was always driving the back roads looking for a flat, straight stretch of secluded pavement to do 1/4 mile or wide open testing. Now, I just corner carve to my heart's content, driving in almost any direction from my house. Life is funny...

I camped and fished in the Nantahala National Forest near Lake Santeetlah twice in the early 80's. I couldn't believe it when that road was found by bike and sports car enthusiasts years later. In a two week stay you were lucky if you saw three other people. Forest Rangers and Game wardens hunting desperados. I drove the length a few times in a silly German Ford Fiesta and then a Ford Escort. No other vehicles on the road. I haven't been back since about '83. Still riding a motorcycle in my creaky, problematic old age, but won't make it that far. Oh yeah, that back of the dragon road north of Marion, Va. is something else! As well as many other roads in that part of the world.

there are some cool routes between reading and the Allegheny / Appalachian ridges Here in our state that I have undoubtedly not found yet!

The Fiesta a a fairly skookum car in Europe. Never caught on here as much :-(

I guess that there has been a number of different cars sold as Ford Fiesta's over the years. Yeah, there were some sporty Euro versions of the Fiestas and early Escort. Europe was slow to adopt emissions back then. Mine was an '80, bought new. New cost went from $4400 to $6000 in 3 years. They imported them to the US from '78 through '80 from Koln, Germany. Likely the poorest assembled, most cheaply constructed car I have ever seen. This from a guy that once owned a Fiat, Cortina and Escort. I got one of the bad block cars with a out of round cylinder. Kent engine with crude emissions. The returned days of 12 mo./12k mi. total warranties. Ford dealer charged me for a factory short block, only knurled a piston and sold me my own engine. Caught them. For only 66 hp, it actually moved along as it only weighed 1800 lbs. wet. Safety equipment? Ha!

too much! Back to "dragon" roads :roll:

I recently did tail of the dragon in my 69 moredoor. Car did fine other than the 9” drums. Fun road. She stopped fine but boy were they hot when we stopped at the bottom. We did it during the escape from Moscow lemons rally...the mountains in west va were more taxing on the drums...disks went higher up on the to do list after the race

Wow 9" drums on the bigger a bodies for a trip like that is crazy.

Glad you enjoyed.

I would like to do a lemons rally sometime too.

Not that I will get there anytime soon, but glendora mountain road/ best bike road in the us also loojs entertaining too!

Yeah, we pretty much had one functioning brake most of the trip. Front drivers side.
The dart was almost flawless for the whole trip. Did great on the race, driving from barber back to northern VA ....she lost the original water pump 136 miles from home. No one had it in stock...AAA platinum towed us the rest lol. Car was great. Nothing like taking a car that sat for 20 years on a looo g trip

Thanks for posting, Moredoor. I am a 4dr fanatic myself, although I have slipped and bought a couple of 2drs in my later years. I did some good handling events in my 64 and 68 Darts with 9" drums, but the first time I took the 64 on a road course (1998), I said it's time for discs. Now they are all 4 whl discs.. My 68 was my first car (1988), and I still have it, modify it, drive it...

But seriously. The lemons rally’s are awesome ...a great time. We liked the dart so much we will use it again next year. Last year we had a Scion xB that I got for $500 ... we named it scion-ara (Japanese car, turned into a zero lol). The dart was more fun

In the summer at deals gap there are pictures of you touring the tail. Me and Jack III have done it a few times on are bikes. It is a fun ride.
