Easy: the engine, as installed in the car, does not sit level front to back; it's higher in front. So the carb mounting pad is a wedge, thicker at the rear, so the carb will sit properly level when the engine is installed.
*slaps forehead* Of course! I wasn't even thinking about the 3-degrees-ish (or whatever it is in this application) front-to-back decline. I remember learning about this while looking at T-buckets with exposed engines. "Why does this thing look like it's sagging at the firewall?" :P

Can you tell us more about what the Helmholtz resonator would do for the intake?
In a nutshell it will reflect a positive pressure wave back down the intake at low engine speeds to boost torque.

Neat ideas. To anyone who makes something cool (notably Josh): I have 2-3 engines I could bolt intakes on to do testing. Cars are driven/raced pretty regularly.

Lou,

I can finish my manifold project for EFI or for dual carburetors. What sounds good to you? And at what RPM do you want the 2nd reflection?

Port EFI and single throttle body would be preferable. I would probably shoot for max HP around 5500 RPM. What do you think, maybe shoot for 2500 or 3000 RPM resonance and it shouldn't hurt the top end much? I am waiting on an IR setup with port EFI, which I expect will help low end substantially and not give up much (if any) up top. Lots of parameters to consider and happy to discuss in this thread, by other thread, on phone...

YES. Version 2.0 will have (a) variable-volume (and/or aperture?) resonator(s)!
