D.I the only thing you can do is sit back n smile b/c the hooks in your cheek and we're reelin you in that cam is on the "soft" side of things, expecially with 9.2:1 compression. did you port the head or install larger valves at all? Justin |

LOL Is this the part where Dennis just mails me his last time slip before I even hit the track? '87', street port and gasket match job, the cam was chosen since this mill was going to be starting platform for a Chevy TBI junkyard conversion that I never got the parts pulled for and my buddy got busy to help wire it up (but he does know there is a '73 Duster running that setup locally). Somewhere I've skipped a step, but it provides a good basis to grow from on the mild-daily driver mill.... -D.Idiot |

| Post subject: | We're goin' in!!! |
You know it's dang near impossible in my sprawling metropolis to find a shop that can bend up a 3" pipe...jeeezz... Thursday, the Duster's going in to get the pipe put on so I can start the journey toward normalizing my Hpak setup.... After discussing it with two exhaust guys who've been in the business for a couple of decades we decided to go this route: 2 1/4" out of the Duals (kind like an open header, to make room since I lightly ported the manifolds). They will then drop to a 2 1/4" to 3" collector. Go 3" through the bellcrank assembly area (boy that place is tight). Go back to a reverse collector, and split back to two 2" pipes (one following the normal path on the driver's side, and one cutting across the tranny inspection plate like the F-bodies, and down the passenger side). So maybe by this weekend, I can read the plugs and see where we're going to go from here... My estimation will be I'll have to replace the plate on the secondary's to something a smidge richer, and work on the secondary spring.... -D.Idiot |

Hey Mr. D.I. Most mufflershops will pickup mandrel bends for you, 90s 45s and 180s are avalible. Paying someone by the hour to custom bend somthing can be more restrictive, maybe a little ugly and cost you more than a used arc welder, think about welding a bung for an O2 sencer, very helpful for tuning (Summit Racing) Also they have a shorty 3" in Out cat converter for about forty bucks Some poeple swear that it will improve performance by keeping exhast gasses hotter not to mention it will get you through D.E.Q. with a lumpy camshaft.I Just remembered Summit just started selling mandrel bends .Just some Ideas. And did I tell you about OTT's In Porland OR They custom loaded a select Borg&Beck 10" to 2600 lbs and it cost the same as a stock parts store rebuild. |

| Post subject: | Duster in for exhaust.... |
Duster went in for exhaust today, will post pics when it's completed. I got to take it down the highway two exits (better than idling for 30 minutes through 13 stop lights...). Pick up was fair, once the jetting is resolved it should click along. I noticed it took less pedal to motivate the car than the super six.... The system is going to be similar to 66Dart's dutra dual system. Out of the duals with 2" or 2 1/4", into a 3" through the bellcrank, split out to 2" into a pair of turbo mufflers, then over the axle and out the back. I can't wait!!!!I wanna tune and 'play'.... -D.Idiot |

I don't thing you will get 3" thru the bellcrank. My testing (stick a baseball bat down there) shows 2 1/2" is about the largest you can go. |

dual 2 inch into a nice 2 1/2 "Y" pipe collector should do the trick. The key is to get the two pipes to end side-by-side at the same point inside the collector. DD
