At this point in time I will give my standard answer of "I have no clue what I'm doing". IF my knees are healed up and I am back to work, and IF they will let me off, and IF I haven't returned my truck yet, (it goes off lease in April, not getting another truck maybe) MAYBE I'll make it. |

I'm hoping this is the year I get the Dart sorted well enough to make one of the events, wherever they are. |

The Kendall team is shooting for Mokan on April 29th with the #42 and #43. I know Shawn Verneris is trying to get his Valiant ready for the Mokan race. I am planning at least one race with the VDRA group, maybe Kearny Nebraska. I might be able to do one other long haul race out east. If I had to choose, I would want to go to a track I've never been to before. I've been to Clay City twice and Knoxville once. My main goal for 2024 is to get the little dragster into the 9s for the 1/4. We were so close last year running 6.30 in the 1/8 mile. A few changes to the engine and a little lightening on the car should get us there. I bought my son Colton a Jr, so we may be tied up running the JR series at Mokan or Mid-America Dragway. |

We are definitely interested again this year. Giving enough heads up definitely would end up with a higher turn out. Our recent Facebook poll showed 33 people who were interested in drag racing this year, but most of them will certainly need more than a 60 day heads up. The Slant Six Facebook group has a little over 25K members, now not all of these even currently have Slant Sixes, and those remaining might not be interested in racing. Hence the poll, which had low participation overall. All that being said we need better advertisement, I would recommend limiting to 3 races positioned throughout the year. We are more than happy to give flyer space on our website stating times, rules, etc. Getting the word out is the biggest problem, especially with a majority of the current Slant Sixers being present on Facebook. The Facebook group has an average of 15-20 "threads" a day with replies averaging around 80+. We constantly reference this forum for information that Facebook users seek, but this is a platform we can't ignore for race advertisement. Due to Facebook's algorithm repetitive posts from one person, or external links tend to be artificially reduced in traction. Multiple people sharing a post from a page (such as ours), within 24 hours automatically triggers a more viral response. We have three social media platforms that we use, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube; with Facebook being our strongest following. To summarize: We need a better advertising, and presence where the majority is. We are willing to offer prizes again this year. Thanks again for all your work Bryce Gill Gill Welding & Fabrication |

Thanks everyone for sharing your plans, desires, and offers of help! It would be great to get some help promoting the races on other venues than this one. Thanks, Bryce! I have not heard anything about having an official Slant 6 race at MoKan, but I see no reason not to do that. Mason-Dixon Dragway May 18-19 is on the books and we will definitely do that. Please let's hear more from folks who would like to do one or more races and who have a preference on venue. It seems the most likely locations that would draw the most cars are: 1) Wilkesboro Dragway in Wilkesboro, NC 2) Motormile Dragway in Fairlawn, VA 3) Kentucky Dragway in Clay City, KY We can be open to other venues, of course. However, if you have never raced a Slant 6 car, then it is less likely that we will believe that you will come. Lots of people say they want to race, but then do not show up when we spend our time and money to organize races. Keep 'em comin'! Lou |

If someone could contact Rodney and Isaiah and see if they are willing to come to any of these venues that would be nice. What we need is a way to tell if people are even willing to come to these tracks. I know most of us have been to Clay City. I'm willing to try it again if we can draw some people from the Mid West. I don't know that Rodney or Isaiah have been to Wilkesboro in a long time. So not sure if they would come. I am willing to go there for sure. But last year we had to cancel a race at Farmington right up the road because of lack of people. If no one from the south will commit to coming North to Wilkesboro, then I'd just as soon go to Motormile since it is 3 hours closer for me. Long and short of it is that I want to race. I'll do my best to try and make it to all 3 races wherever they are. But I am not willing to travel 10+ hours to race with 4 people. Sorry I'm just not willing to do that. |

I sent a message to Rodney on Facebook about the MD race and he responded instantly. He said his motor is out of the car and at the machine shop. I also sent a message to Isiah Bruner. I definitely think FB is the way to go to reach out and find new racers. We will attend Mason Dixon for sure. It depends on where the 2nd or 3rd race is. Maybe go to 2nd race, definitely not a 3rd. |

Somehow I missed this discussion until Rick told me to check it out. - Thanks Rick. I will be at Mason Dixon, barring any unforeseen circumstances. If I don't leave my driveshaft lying on the track there again, I would like to try and make it to another race also. I would lean towards VA or Wilkesboro. Like Rick said, VA is closer so that makes it easier for me. Plus I have actually never raced there. I do really like Wilkesboro though and wouldn't be opposed to racing there again either. Too bad the Nascar race in Wilkesboro is the weekend of Mason Dixon. I thought it would be cool to dragrace for a day or two and then hang out at the Nascar race with all you guys at that cool old track. Also, I'm not saying I wouldn't go to Clay City if I could make it work out and that's where the big race was going to be. Just the other 2 are my first and second picks. |
