Just an example of a converter. My 66 Valiant with a 170 engine and a 9 1/2 converter full foot brake stall was about 3200 rpm. every thing else the same except going to a 225 engine full footbrake stall was just about 4,000 rpm. The bigger engine made more torque, so the converter stall was higher with the same converter.

A stock or near-stock converter will be miserable with that cam/engine setup.
My truck with similar engine and gearing as yours ( Only a little smaller cam) and a stock convertor is Ok. But it would be much nicer with a 2800-3000 stall like Lou said. I'm keeping my eyes open for a used one.
