IIRC, any new glass after the 1980s or so is thinner than stock. You need to get liberal with the clear silicone to get them to seal in any gasket, new or old. The new gaskets are not made to match the new thinner glass. I put the silicone in, squish the gasket down, then clean the glass up with rubbing alcohol before the silicone cures. I bet you can remove blobs/excess after the silicone cures (peel/razor off the excess), but I haven't tried it. I probably have done that too, actually, but it's been 20+ yrs.

Rick, I would reuse the gasket you have as I'm pretty sure it's fine.
