Quote: Well, what are this kit's hard requirements for wheel diameter, etc?
Ok, so I took some much needed time to re-calibrate my motivation and I'd to try to figure out what wheels I would need to get to make this work with the Pirate Jack kit I already purchased which is the 5x4 small bolt pattern kit. Here are the specifications that the Pirate Jack kit requires: Minimum Wheel Size: 14 inches (fits most original 14" rims; does NOT fit Steely Rims, Cragar Steel SST Rims, Year One Rally, or any drum 14" rim that had smaller than 10" drums). Fit's Most 14" Wheels. The measurement requirement are a minimum 13.25" overall inside diameter with at least a minimum of 4" backspacing. Anything less than that will not allow the calipers to clear the wheel. I'm not sure what other information other than that if any is needed. I truly do appreciate any and all help. Looking forward to sorting this out |

Unfortunately, 5x4" isn't a very common bolt pattern, and most of the older cars that used it came with pretty small wheels. Usually 13" or 14" in the case of A-body Mopars. If you need at least 4" of backspace (axial distance from the inner mounting surface to the inner rim), then it sounds like the more common "skinny" stock 14" wheels won't be wide enough. They're only 4.5" wide at the rim, with backspacing about half of that. Which is unfortunate, because they can often be found cheap or free from people who have upgraded their own wheels. There were wider 14" and 15" wheels that came on some SBP Mopars, but they were much less common. I don't know if they have the required backspacing either; others will have to chime in on that. If you find wheels that are good on diameter and close on backspace (and your wheel studs are long enough), then you might get by with some cheap slip-on wheel spacers to bump them out a bit. |

Thanks for the reply, I'll keep the wheel spacer idea in mind. I have come across some sbp rims that seemed like they might work on FB marketplace but usually the person doesn't know what the backspacing is or how to measure it and the rims are almost all usually 2ish hours away. If I find any close enough I'll measure myself and see if a spacer will do the trick. Thank you again I really appreciate the help. |
