A Dodge tech told me one time that a speedo will take up to 200moh if you are driving it with a drill. This is also the same guy who left a drill hooked up to his truck overnight. It melted the cable housing. :lol:

Maybe if it was straight, but with bends in it and such 200mph may be excessive. Unless you lube it continiously or keep it soaked in a bucket of oil ;)

yeah, but I doubt if anybody would crack down on a private individual for tampering with the odo on a thirty year old car that he plans on keeping for at least another ten, and is on its second engine and its third trans... Cracking down on tampering is usually only feasible in regards to used car dealers and rental agencies; individuals only get busted if theyre unplugging the speedo on their rental car, or trying to "extend" their factory warranty, which is impossible now with electronic odometers, they usually trip a code in the ECM if theyre unplugged and the trans wont shift without them. I say leave well enough alone as well, but for other reasons.
