DUPLI-COLOR! If you lay it on real light for the first coat and let it dry or tack up then do several realtivly heavy coats and let it dry for a few days it will last for a real long time.

I think you're trying to re-invent the wheel.
That's certainly the prevalent opinion, Dan. And I'm not going to disagree.

I can see both sides of the argument. Normal engine enamel right out of the can will probably provide years of adequate service with proper preparation, and for most of you, that's as far as you feel you need to go. I completely respect that. And I'm not suggesting you're incorrect.

I am simply looking for a paint that will outperform it. That has been the precedent Ive set throughout my engine overhaul. I could have probably built it for half the cost without any real noticeable difference in performance.

I'm going to trust what you said about the acrylic paint. I may be fickle, but Im not in favor of wasting money on something that won't work. A few guys at work that hotrod suggested epoxy paint, the only disadvantage Ive heard about is a typical low gloss factor and brittleness. None of the paint shops I called this morning made any mention of them, though.

Epoxy paints are indeed prone to chipping...if you're intent on it, you might look into powder coating, which can be done in Chrysler Blue and, if done right, lasts practically forever. Practical for the oil pan, valve cover, timing cover, etc., but not for the block. The real key to keeping the paint on the block is SURFACE PREP. The factory did none, so there was plenty of grease and gunge conspiring to flake the paint off over the years. Spend a couple hours fastidiously cleaning everything down, use an etching primer if you like, and you should never have to worry about the top-quality topcoat you use flaking off.

Yeah, a lot of people have been telling me to use zinc chromate primer. Ive got a line on some good stuff. What kind of temperature resistance do you think I should be looking for? 200F continuous, 300F intermittent seems to be a magic number for most of the conventional pigments Ive looked at. If I can get away with that, I might just go with Dupont Centari...

I am working on an original 69 head right now. (more questions on this soon!... The thing is turquoise!....not Chryco blue. My artist GF says that this Chryco Canada colour has way more green in it than the US Chrysler colour. You can borrow my head for the afternoon if you want to colour match.

Id love to, but if I drove all the way over to BC, I might be tempted to stay  Especially this time of the year. I appreciate the offer.

Apparently my car was assembled in Hamtranck, so it's a US Export model, not a CDN model.

No, this is not an export Dart. It is a Dodge Dart built for the Canadian market.

Chrysler Canada built A-body Dodge Darts for the American market in 1966 and then imported them from the U.S. during 1967-1969. No A-body Darts were sold in Canada from 1963 to 1966. Assembly of the A-body cars began again in Windsor in the fall of 1969 (1970 models).

The paint and options of the Canadian market 1969 Dart were the same as offered in the U.S. So the engine would be painted the same colour as an American market Dart.

To verify which market your Dart was built for, check the data tag under the hood. The should be either a "Y05" or "Y07".

FWIW, the engine in one of my '69 Australian Valiants is a green/blue type of colour( this is the original paint and original engine), in my '69 sedan with engine is red. In Australia the 1 barrel engines were red, the 2 barrel's were the green(ish) colour, the Pacer was orange with a yellow rocker cover. We went to the Chrysler blue in about '72.

North American auto manufacturers consider "Export" to be a vehicle built for a market outside Canada and the U.S. And this is especially true for vehicles built after the U.S-Canada auto trade agreement came into effect in 1965. With that, auto manufacturers built vehicles in the U.S. for Canada and vice-versa. Thus Chrysler, for example. has three "Built for" codes on the data tag and build sheet - U.S., Canada and Export.
