Didn't bring it home, but I did do some tearing apart. My original plan was to rewire the car front to back, and having started on it, it is a good plan indeed.

Started at the back and pulled the cover panel off the battery/fuel cell area. WOW! Way worse than I thought it would be, and I thought it wouldn't be much.

Car is set up for dual batteries, but the battery boxes aren't big enough for Group 24 batteries. PO had a Group 24 stuck in one box anyway. Cables were kinda routed decently, BUT the charging posts on the rear of the car were hooked up backwards. Sure glad I never tried to run this thing.

There is about 24 miles of wire for the tail lights that will be eliminated. I am going to run most of the tail lights, but will put the correct bulbs in them so the lenses won't melt anymore. There were blue bulbs in the reverse light sockets. That's kinda neat but kind of hillbilly at the same time.

The really nice Aeromotive fuel pump needs a little love. It would not run when I tried it. Took it apart and cleaned it, but the top bearing appears to be seized up. Gonna try to get some new parts for it.

Fuel cell needs a good cleaning, and then I am going to replumb it. Just don't like the way it's done now.

The good news is that the overhead switch panel will stay. It is a pretty nice Painless unit. Other than that, almost all the wiring inside the car will be replaced.

That is the plan. So far it seems to be one step forward, 2 steps back.

Thanks for the offer, but right at the moment not much. It's just gonna be a slow process rewiring and replumbing, but I'm not gonna rush it and do a half fast job. Rather do it right than do it over. :D

Not this Sunday for sure, racing starts at Joliet. Maybe next Sunday. If ya wanna come up we can put the super tune on the red car and it'll be ready to go. :D

I should be down there Memorial Day weekend for sure. I'll probably have to work Saturday, but should be off Sunday and Monday for sure. :?

I was wandering around Vatozone the other day and found those caps we wanted for the heater hose outlets. :D

If you are talking about the "rubber" caps. Keep a eye on them. Cheap rubber, does not last long. When they start to crack replace them, before they split.

Stopped by the Chicago Connection tonight to get some fittings and hose for the fuel system.

2 -12 hose ends, 1 -12/-10 fitting for the pump, 1 -10 fitting for the pump, a -10 cap, and 30" of -12 black braided hose lightened the ol' wallet $110.

Tried to get a couple parts for my Aeromotive pump, but they didn't list them in the catalog. Guess I'll be calling Aeromotive direct tomorrow. :?

Got some more wiring stuff. Hoping this thing will be fairly decent looking when I'm done. 8)

Yep. Don't want it to go lean if I decide to spray.

Just got done ordering a bunch of battery cable stuff so I can clean up that rat's nest.

$110 there too.

This car is just like a hooker.

Tech tip of the day:

When you are disassembling your Aeromotive A-2000 fuel pump that the previous owner left just enough methanol in to corrode the pump cavity and stick the vanes, and you hear the brushes click out of their holders do not despair. Upon reassembly all you need to do is cut a 3" section of a V end off a wire coat hanger and use it as a spreader to keep the brushes in place while you put the top back on. There is more than enough room for the brushes to go down the armature and still be able to pull the wire out. You will hear a double click as the brushes seat. :D

Also, that top bearing that appears to be a seized up ball bearing is in reality a self aligning bushing. Spray it with a little WD-40 and you're gold. :D

Tested the pump and it runs again. :D :D :D :D :D
