I just got a call from Steve Nitti. He and Denny will be bringing the Duster to Clay City. :D

They just barely missed the C/Unlimited record at Mo-Kan, so they have done a little tuning and will be loaded for bear on 8 September. They plan to leave no doubt about the C/Unlimited record this time! :twisted:

It's a beautiful car. Steve shows it and drives it on the street quite a bit. I think he told me he is the original owner! He also has a 66 Formula S Barracuda that he shows and drives.

He said they ran the numbers when they met with Seymour and they missed the C/U record by .00 something. The car weighs about 2800, so close to 3000 with driver. He said they've shaved a couple tenths off since Mo-Kan. :wink:

The Mopar event at Clay City is still happening!!

You may see posts elsewhere about Monster Mopar ending their affiliation with Mountain Park Dragway and the race at Clay City. Don’t worry! Mountain Park is still having the event and our race is not effected!!

Just a couple small adjustments. Josh Woodie sold the '61 Valiant, but Larry Chesney raced with us at Knoxville this weekend and plans to be at Clay City. I also adjusted a couple cars for folks. Jack Everhardt Jr. will be bringing his '73(?) Dart 4 door and Charlie said that Steve Adams is working on a '72 Duster.

I believe 2015. My issue was lack of actual racing going on and nothing on the track. 1st time run at 2pm, 2nd at 7pm with first call to staging at 7:30. I swore then I would never set foot in Clay City again.

Just poorly organized and run. I know it got much better under Monster Mopar. Hopefully it stays that way.

Rick, not sure what it will do to car counts. When I was there last the only reason racing ran late was poor running of the program.

I’ve coordinated the Clay City race the last two years with the new manager Scotty Richardson and crew.

Others please chime in, but I thought they did a pretty good job.

Post subject:  1/4 mile AND 1/8 mile opportunities
Clarification for this race weekend:

The big purse race on Saturday will be a 1/4 mile competition.

The regular race on Sunday will be a 1/8 mile competition.

For those seeking to set records:

Since we have both 1/4 and 1/8 mile races this weekend, you have the opportunity to set a record in either class.

Any passes you make this weekend Friday - Sunday during test & tune, time trials or competition count.

Reminder: You CANNOT use the 1/8 mile split of a 1/4 mile pass to submit for the 1/8 mile record. All 1/8 mile record submissions have to be with the 1/8 mile time slip only.

So plan your test & tune and entering other classes for record attempts accordingly. :wink:

Thanks, Rob. I was there the last two years and don't recall any weird running orders or big delays. I'll be there with bells on, starting with testing on Friday eve.

If anyone is showing up early (Friday morn/midday, etc..), please post here so we might get together nearby before the track opens. I plan to get there before the track opens (3pm) on Friday, in case there will be Slant 6 luminaries hanging around lip flappin!
