Hey guys I found this company via a friend whos into drifting, did a little reasearch pretty amazing stuff, here have a gander http://www.mazworx.com/store/c/85-Billet-Blocks.aspx these are just the beautiful billet blocks, obviously with the popularity of the 2JZ engine, and the power some of these can make, billet would be a good choice, and there out of Sanford, Fl, which puts a few of us in in decent range to drive and talk to these cats........ I am really feeling like I'm coming back down with the sickness, and the only cure is more slant boost |

Let us know what they say when you tell them their target market might be 10 blocks. |

I was thinking more along the lines if they have all that ability and talent, why not heads ?if you could shave 30lbs off a stock head ?? for the all out crowd only ?? maybe.........fusion weld a couple DOHC 2.5L V6 heads together... spacing is close on the cylinder head and bolt holes..... hey its all possible if some one hits the lotto, who want to to go all in on the next 100MIl powerball ?? |

Just being devil's advocate here and popping this up. For anyone thinkng that Slants are an underservd market, I spend time on the Race section on Moparts too. Every week someone is starting a thread on why they can't buy an aftermarket block for their wedge motor (both big and small blocks) and even Hemi blocks. Head selection is somewhat better, but still nothing to write home about. Sooooooo, the next time you bemoan no alloy heads or blocks for Slants, remember that our market is probably 1% of what the V-8 Mopar market is, and they are hurting too. Hell, the Aussies build alloy heads for most everything, and they don't do one for Slants. |

if an alloy slant six head is to happen,, with today's technology, it will be done with 3D printing http://www.3ders.org/articles/20141110- ... sches.html not cheap, but certainly that is the only avenue that leads to a product. in today's economy, the cost will still be more than a Double Stuffed Pizza at Beggards,, with Nachos.. although that is a pretty good product. it is possible (actually I think it is likely) that over the next 10 to 15 years,, 3D printing will become commonplace,, with every WalMart and Office Max and affluent family having 3D printing capability,, then,, that will be the future. you want it you CAD it you got it |

Lmao!, this thread has been a riot for me to follow, but at the same time a little sad. I can see the points all around, from the realists, pessimists, and optimists. We all share one thing, we love our venerable little leaning six,& would like to see options to improve/update them on par w/other offerings. As was mentioned, a common vision of what it should be is imperative,no one is going to build anything if the potential market is split into 5 different directions, none of whom have any interest in the other 4. Performance- wise,a 4-valve crosslfow FI dedicated system is totally do-able w/the int. up the pass. fender apron, no carb/hood clearance issues to deal with. But how many are going to want/be willing to make all the related changes? That is not going to happen,... never, 'cept a one-off ind. effort. The fact is it will need to maintain the same basic architecture, and provide tangible upgrades regardless of the cost, or as has been mentioned..whats the point? It is a real possibility, but unless there is a consensus to match what demand there is, all the talk of money and techniques is pointless. |

I don't see the room for a cross flow head with the engine slanted over. That plus the distributor is also there. |

If you're going to put this much money into a head, you'd go EFI, crank trigger, and distributorless ignition, and probably go with a remote oil pump....then it would be tight for the exhuast...but then again the big block A-body guys do swiss cheese that fender anyway to get the passenger side headers to fit anyway.... Food for thought...or fuel to the fire depending on your point of view.... |
