it is heavy. should be totally worth it though. i gotta figure out how to brace it. the china turbo had bolts holding the cold side on. i ran a bracket off of those. this one uses a clamp. ill figure something out once i get it in there. drawing a blank at the moment.

Turbo ram ran a 5.9 cummins turbo like the hx35/h1c and from a first hand experience she ran damn good. I built my brace for my hx35 off of the exhaust to center section bolts

glad to hear the turbo would work. do you know when it started spooling? i was thinking that for the brace. maybe a brace coming up from the power steering pad.

I welded a 1" x 1/8" steel bar to the engine mount on the engine side, and made an angle to the turbo flange. That coupled with the transmission exhaust hanger rod holding the downpipe tight, and the intake and J-pipe attached, it's super secure.

I saw on Ebay they sell a bracket intended for the GN, but looks like it'd be a good start to build something.

whelp, got the new turbo in. got most everything ran. still waiting on the oil fitting.
<img src="http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p79/weesers1/20141028_182001_zpsca8osg5v.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20141028_182001_zpsca8osg5v.jpg"/>

went in pretty easy. the mounting bolts are a little harder to get to but still pretty easy. i ground the v-band lip off of the cold side to retain my coupler. the exhaust bolted up surprisingly, though it was gonna be bigger. return line ran the same. oil feed will be the same once i get the fitting. got a new bov. i thought the other one was giving me trouble but tearing stuff apart today i found that a cap that i had on a "T" going to the bov had popped. that was probably causing my problem the whole time but this new bov is much nicer. im going to use the wastegate actuator from the china turbo. china is set for 8psi the holset is set for 20-24psi. i need to cut out a section of the china actuator to shorten it up and make it work. no room for a filter anymore up front. gonna run a stainless steel screen just to keep the big stuff out. hopefully the fitting will be here tomorrow. then i can fry some tires and see what this thing does.

given that everything else is set for 14psi i think im gonna go right back to that. but 14psi with a small turbo isnt the same with a big one so im gonna hawk the afr gauge like i always do. (small turbo @14psi=hot air, big turbo @14psi=cold air. cold air is more dense requires more fuel) also 14 is at the lower end of the efficiency spectrum for this turbo so ill be turning it up accordingly.

what kind of clutch did you go with? im thinking that will be my next money pit after the 4 spd. also did you o-ring your block? or do anything to it.

I didn't o ring the block despite using a chunk of copper that was kind of an after thought to be honest lol. Spec stage 3+ it's a Nissan based deal they drilled my flywheel to fit the 9.5 disc the last one last 4 or 5 years so for 550 bucks I opted for that instead of the 2000 dollar Mcloud custom twin disc setup.

fitting finally came. got it all wrapped up and took it for a blast. this turbo is super quiet at idle. cant even tell there is anything in there. pretty quiet when it spools too. spools a couple hundred rpm later then the little guy i had on there. totally worth it though. i recalibrated my boost controller to what i thought was the factory spec, didnt really give me factory numbers though. wound up pushing 20psi. still spinning in 1st, 2nd comes on harder and just throws the ass of the car out because its spinning so hard, 3rd is really close to spinning. i can feel the tires fighting for traction. i gotta do something with the front end. it lumbers back and forth when it spools and thats just not safe. gonna start by taking the 20+ year old shocks out and replace them with some new ones. also gonna need a new boost gauge. didnt think i was going to go over 20 which is max on my gauge but boost is addictive and i have the setup to push over that mark now. no new noises, still running smooth, coolant and oil are still clean. im starting to wonder when my fel-pro head gasket is going to let go. im gonna stay on top of the tune and see what i can get out of it. it pulls hard. i love it.

Sounds awesome. My turbo is dead silent at idle till you push the gas a little bit, was your china turbo making noise at idle?

Also how low can you make your slant idle with the turbo? I can not go below 800 without stalling now. No vac leaks either.

I like a chopping cam idle so mines lowwww like 600ish, I can probably get my down to 500ish before it gets ready to stall. I have a straight 3 inch exhaust no muffler, so mine just idles and whistles like a semi truck or something lots of turbo noises...... Love it. Then stand on it and the wastegate dumps under the car to atmosphere.

china turbo made noise all the time. any time i hit the gas it sounded like it was starting to spool even though it wasnt. this one doesnt sound like its spooling until its already 5-10psi deep. i have the same exhaust i was running on the china turbo too, 27" of 3" exhaust. its crazy how quiet it is.

mine idles right around 8-900. i could go lower if i wanted to but i was having trouble with the old turbo/bov. havent really tried with the new setup. timing and idle mix are what i play with for the lopey idle. make sure your valves are adjusted too. there is no set afr for idling so dont be afraid to make it a little rich.
