I offered to do so on the west coast, but nobody would lend me the originals for casting measurements. Anyhow, it seems they are doomed to fall into obscurity...if anyone has a nice set, I'll pay $1000. PM me. b |

That’s a beautiful looking engine! Looks Micky mouse!!

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I like my engines to run good and look good doing it. This one has plenty of power, cam is aggressive but not so much that it doesn't idle smoothly, it does. I liked the dual Webers better, but the fuel injection 4 barrel allows me to sit in hot traffic for long periods with no boil overs...can't say the gas mileage is good, it isn't, but I don't care. If I want good mileage, I drive my direct injection 3.6L Caddy (6 speed manual). brian |

Hi Guys, Looks like hyper pak exhaust manifolds are getting extremely rare. Any chance the Aussie Speed guys will cast remakes? I have a fabrication shop ready to make SS shorty header versions of them, but I don't have a pattern. Does anyone have or can they make a CAD or other drawings of these manifolds? Is there a set I can borrow to send to the fabricator? He said he'd give a discount if there were more orders, price for one set is $1400. Sounds expensive, but they would be really nice and actual hyper paks are likely way more expensive if you can even find a set. Also, as I understand there are fitment issues with certain engines/options/starters, since these would be made from scratch, they can be tweaked to be "universal" if there is such a configuration from all your collective experiences. Please share if any such fitment tweaks are recommended. For example, assuming a ministarter is used, would there be a different design for the rear manifold for flow and/or aesthetics? FYI, Brian |

I gotta say...by 2021, a Slant Six owner looking for more power should probably just go with a very nicely made set of tube headers, rather than a cast iron manifold of any sort. Now...if you're looking to replicate a Hyper Pak arrangement, then it makes sense to use a cast iron replica. But otherwise, headers seem to make a lot more sense. |

All good points. As you may have seen in my engine compartment, I care about aesthetics as well as performance. I don't care for the look of long tube headers (and not racing it, so yeah). I think a SS set of hyper pak inspired shorty headers would look awesome and perform well, without all the weight of cast iron. As I mentioned, I'd love to have a set of OEM manifolds, but alas that is becoming a pipe dream. brian |

As long as you are willing to use the "super mini" starter (2005-2008 Hemi Manual) the Hyper pak design and shape works fine. There are plenty of pictures on here from my install that will show you how they fit. Here is the fitment photos Lou did. viewtopic.php?p=431958#431958 |

Thank you, Rick. Is that the Remy 16054 starter for the 2005-2008 5.7L hemi? I have that one installed if so. Those pics are great, thank you. Brian |

Still hoping that they can be re-created. |

Yes that is the correct starter. |

Quote: OK, so if the original hyper paks are so rare, expensive and cast iron (heavy/huge heat source), and, modern cars/race builds are using beautiful SS shorty headers with excellent flow characteristics and lighter/less heat soak, e.g. like in the attached pic for a v6 Ford, then why would SL6er's not want a similar set patterned off the OEM hyper pak manifolds? I would.
Can you say "Clifford shorties"?
Just saying. B |

Quote: B I can show instead of say. ![]() I think it's for the nostalgia on those OE Hyperpak manifolds. Maybe Rick and Stan can share their opinion. Greg |

Thanks Rick for the starter confirmation. Yes, I think you are right about the nostalgia part on the hyper paks. Again, as I said, I'm into performance and aesthetics at the same time. And of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, very subjective, but I like the look of a shorty header with very few sharp bends if possible, the Clifford headers don't quite fit the bill for me. I designed my current system for the DD's, and it works great. I was just fantasizing about going upstream a bit more and replacing the manifolds with something curvy, beautiful and flowing; maybe shed a bunch of weight. I'd have to do an intake heater, but I could route those hoses easily with such shorties. Brian

Nothing elegant about clifford shorties. The Dutra's are efficient and simple and heavy. For me the HP manifolds are very well designed and have the look. And I want to marry them with my Hyper Pak manifold and system. Will told me recently he spent a great amount of time on each tube of his turbo SS header. If you count time and materials I am sure the cost is $$$. |
