Got the rough draft of the adapter plate made tonight. Just have to drill and tap the holes for the water neck, drill the hole for the water to pass through, and do a little trimming to final shape and it's done. First order of bidness Sunday is to pull the head and take it to Patrick's shop to extract the bypass fitting and plug it. If I have time I will also drill and tap the motor plate for the inlet fitting. Then it's off to the Chicago Connection for some more pretty hoses and fittings to tie the pump, radiator, and motor together. My butt is gonna hurt some more. |

Head is off, Patrick heated it up with the acetylene torch and a twist with a pipe extractor and a breaker bar left me a nice clean hole for the plug. Big shout out to Patrick for his fab job on the windshield/firewall. There was more than enough room to get the head off with all the head studs still in the block. My work on the motor plate was not as precise. Had to get the air hacksaw out and cut a bigger notch to clear the bottom corner of the head as it came up. Off to Otterzone this week to see if they will let me go through the radiator hoses to find something that will work. Lower will be a trip to CC for another anal cleansing. |

I am trying Mark. I have about 5 more weeks until the shop gets filled up with winter storage cars. I am hoping to have the engine fired by then. |

Hey Dennis, It's great to read of you making some good progress on the "Day Tuna". Here are a couple quotes from the infamous "Poser" thread. You are true to your word. http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46727 Quote: I bet my Daytona goes down the track before either one of you yahoos make a pass. Quote: Among Mater, Cookie, Dennis (Daytona), Rick, and Brian, I'd give this order of track appearance:
1) Rick 2) Brian 3) Mater 4) Dennis 5) Cookie Lou Quote: Hey Bagel!!
Lou sez I'm gonna beat you!! Nanny Nanny Boo Boo!! Quote: The Daytona will be finished whenever money and time allow. I never seem to have both at the same time. Quote: Mater, it's just a fact that even though my car will be finished as money allows, it will still make a pass before yours will.
Just don't go helpin' Cookie anymore while I'm over here with the Challenger in storage... If HE beats me I might as well just quit! Dennis will race the Daytona at MoKan 2016!!! |

Cookie is about as organized as a fart in a blender. If he beats you done you must have had a stroke and gone into a coma. I think Mokan is being pretty ambitious. I will be happy if I get it to Cedar Falls. |

We need a Zilla, Mater, Cookie showdown race at Z-max in Charlotte. Maybe 2020? OK, I'll be happy to see Zilla running that contraption at a track next year! Lou |

Just left the hot rod store with my cooling hoses and fittings. Got out for $50 less than I thought. It's a good day. |
