Went down today and did a little bit. Got the hoses figured out for the cooling system, pulled the motor plate, and made sure my fan works. Went to Menard's tonight and got some aluminum stock to make a bracket to mount the fan to the radiator instead of it being hung on with 2 bungee cords. Believe it or not, the car had tech stickers from 2 different tracks on it when I bought it. Apparently bungee cords are a legal means of holding somewhat vital parts on. At least when I am done it will look a little less hilljack. (I hope) Have to finish trimming the motor plate out, drill and tap the hole for the lower hose fitting, and shine it up a little when I'm done with it. Also discovered that they sent the wrong cable bracket for my high zoot shifter. Got to get that exchanged. |

Got the fan bracket pretty much done today. Have to get some different bolts to mount the fan to the brackets so the blades don't hit. When I was fitting/drilling the brackets I even made sure to put a piece of plywood on the face of the radiator BEFORE I drilled through the core. |

Radiator/fan back in, water pump mounted and plumbed, motor plate back in, and head back on. Tried to take some pictures, but as soon as the camera flashed it forced the phone to restart. Pretty sure it won't run this year, only 1 more Sunday to work in the shop before it turns into winter storage. IF I can get stuff parked the way I want maybe I can end up with the Daytona out by the door so it can be worked on. |

Went down today and did the last work for the year. Car is now pushed back in the hole and the Turd truck and Duster put away. One more car coming in Saturday and the Skunkworks will be closed up for the winter. |

Dennis I get excited about my own stuff, but I get real excited about other peoples too! Can't wait till you get yours done! I take it you don't have heat to work in your garage over the winter? Or are the winters just to hard out there. Rick |

No heat in the shop or my garage at home. Shop is 70 miles south/east of my house. |

With the Skunkworks closed Dennis will probably be pursuing other forms of wintery fun. Here is some good advice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOVh_C7XTHA |

Soon as I saw Geddy Lee I closed it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOVh_C7XTHA Thanks Ron, I have finally regained interest in finishing this thing. Hopefully it does continue. Not sure how many Slant races it will ever make it to, my vacation time scheduling at work sucks. I've heard rumors that I may be offered a new job that is closer to home AND only 5 days a week. I have my fingers crossed that it happens. |
