I chased all the threads on the 8 3/4 tonight...

Along with doing about 2 pounds of weight removal in my quest for the 2018 Slant 6 Record Domination!!

Actually, I just scraped a bunch of built up rubber out of the rear wheel tubs.

Post subject:  Axle on the way...

I just got off the phone with Moser. My new axle should be here Tuesday or Wednesday.

I got the new axle ready to install tonight. Hopefully this weekend I'll get the center section and axles all put back in.

Old left, new right.

I had to cut the bearing retainer off. I told them I was running Wilwood brakes. No biggie.

I chased the threads on the studs before installing them.

I couldn't put brand new parts in looking like this...

Did you Loctite the studs into the flange? They will back out when you try to take the lugnuts off if they're not. Ask me how I know this.

Ah yes! The same thing happened when I put Moser axles in the Dart. I'll back them back out and loc-tite them. Thanks for that!

Well,... I didn’t get the 8 3/4 put back together.
I did loc-tite the studs though.

The weekend was more focused on another project.

Big Mike came home for the weekend and brought his welding helmet and gloves. “C’mon Dad. I’m gonna teach you to weld.” :D

He showed me a couple things and let me run a couple ugly (and couple not so ugly) beads. He made a lot of progress on the Locost frame.

I’m TDY (business trip) to DC all week, so we will get back to the projects next weekend.

We were going to fire up the Dart and take it for a spin, but it rained and snowed off and on all weekend.

I tried to shoehorn a Slant 6 in it, but it would take too much re-working. It’s actually set up for a Duratec. It’s a 442 frame. There is a thread on LocostUSA. Look for Saltracer’s 442 Duratec build. I’ve taken on his project.

I will eventually build a “Leaning Locost”.

Another project? How many is that?
Instead of you working for "Uncle", you need to get "Uncle" working for you.
