So, do we have any updates on what records were set at Wilkesboro?

I think we need records officially updated for Motormile first (Virginia). Ryan and I will have to mail in forms and slips for Wilkesboro before anything happens on that. Ryan ran something like 7.16 sec and 94.2 MPH (A/G) and I ran 8.49 sec and 86.5 MPH (C/U).

Best,
Lou

How are the record points awarded, if two drivers in the same class excede the existing record at the same meet? Both drivers? first driver? quickest/fastest, of the day? What if one driver sets the record on sat, then the other driver goes quicker/faster on sunday, since they are considered separet events? Or is it just the quickest/fastest of the weekend, period?

Charlie, 2 years ago Ron and Rodney both added weight to break the D Gas record. They both broke the record on the same day. Ron was faster than Rodney. They both received 20 points for breaking the record that weekend. The way I understand it is any number of racers can break an existing record, until they are sent in and verified by Seymour. After Seymour gets the records, the new fastest record will stand but everyone gets the 20 points.

I will have the current records updated and posted on here shortly. As far as I know, no one submitted records to Seymour for Wilkesboro yet but Lou's numbers are really close to what the actual records will be. I think it was only Lou and I that re-set records that weekend.

Here are the records from MotorMile. That was such a hot weekend but was an absolutely great track to run. Congratulations to Lou on the record! Its great to see a street car running so fast. I'm excited to see what it will do in good air!

Lou Madsen 6/17/18 C/Unlimited, 1/8 mile, 68 Dart, 3,160#, 8.8202 ET and 82.57 MPH

Ryan Covalt 6/16/18 A/Gas, 1/8 mile, 62 Valiant, 2,150#, 7.1881 ET
Previous record was held by Seymour in the same car since 2006 @ 7.250 ET

Here is a link to the spreadsheet with the existing records and the history of all the records.

The reason I asked is there is a rumor of two drivers going after your "D" nitrous record. One is in the points chase, and one is not. The thinking is, you have held that "soft" record long enough.

All drivers breaking a record on a race weekend get the bonus points. 1st , last or in between doesn't matter.

Thanks for letting the cat outta the bag Charlie!

I was also looking at what was the open C/U record, but Lou took the seats out of his Dart to claim that one. :x

I’ll keep scheming and wrenching here in Kentucky.

Charlie, Your thinking is correct. I currently have the slowest record in slant 6 history  and i'd love to see that one broken sometime soon.

I may even let someone borrow my nitrous setup to make that happen..... I cant seem to talk Dad into nitrous on his Valiant so someone else is gonna have to break the record.

Best of luck to all the nitrous sprayers!

At one time I had the D/G record faster then that.

I have a boatload of nitrous stuff I'd make someone a hell of a deal on.

Dennis, Your D Gas record was way faster than my nitrous record :D
I put a 25-30 hp nitrous jet in my plate system and ran 2 passes. The car was super rich and popping the entire time down the track. When I turned the nitrous off I only lost a tenth in the 1/8 mile. I was hoping to eventually change the gears in the car and spray 100hp of nitrous and set the record faster but I never got around to it, and didn't want to blow up the only running slant 6 I had left.

So, for sake of argument... If someone sets a record, but doesn’t get the proper forms to Seymour before someone else sets that same record at a later race, they would both get the 20 points and their names in the book? The faster/quicker record stands as the current record, even if it was set first I assume.

Seems confusing, so here’s an example.

Lou set the open C/U record at Motor Mile, but the record wasn’t posted until after the Wilkesboro race. If I had put a turbo on the Duster and set that same record at Wilkesboro and got my paperwork to Seymour, I would be credited with having set the record as well? Makes sense to me.

Thanks for any clarification on that. :D

Sweet!

I estimate the Duster will be at the very tippy top of B class with me and a nitrous bottle...
