that would work. i have extra metering blocks laying around if i need to go the other way. |

Ive got two blocks, ones from a holley 350 and one from a 500. The 500 is slightly diff from the 350 so im trying to keep from adding variables and sticking w the 350 metering block. Got exhaust work being done here in about an hr, 3" all the way!! Be nice to hear myself think again. Then im gonna get setup to swap from 833 to a 904. Tired of shifts and just want to mat it to the floor n go. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4dRGQJ41u8 still gotta do some tuning but its much better then it was. its close enough im gonna turn it back up to 20psi or better and see what happens. |

Very nice on the video! A wee bit jealous that you can bury the gauge. I'm still setting up really. I got to figure out a wastegate so it works a lil better when I do mash it. I like my clutch too for playing but for the most part I'd rather just mat it to the floor and go. I've got 3:55 rear gears so it makes the shifts rather fast. Which would better suit me w a 904, no need to drop boost on the shift really. How did you set up your wastegate, I know you added one from a diff turbo but not sure much past that |

the only gauge that i want to bury i cant. the speedo. speedo goes to 120 but i only have the gear and rpm to hit 115. just dont have the gear. im still running my 3 speed so my shifts are pretty quick. i would love a 4 speed with a low 1st gear so i could run a highway gear out back. getting it off the line with the 3.21 is already a chore with the cam i have. doesnt like to do anything at all under 1500rpm. as soon as it hits that though its like flipping a switch and all is good and it will pull straight through 5k. i used the one off of my busted china turbo. had to cut the shaft 2" and weld it back together. other then that it was straight forward. the mounting holes lined up in the bracket that was already there from the stock actuator. just set the pre load. does your turbo have the bracket for the wastegate? i know some of them didnt. |

It used to have a bracket like that but I cut n welded it diff. I'll have to get a picture of how it's setup now. It does the same thing just w out the actuator. I need to put a stiffer spring on it and see if that helps out. I'll just go get a pic, brb |

why wouldnt you want to run an actuator? i came across a "how to" to make the stock hx35 actuator require less boost to open. it used springs and a bracket. cant remember where though. do you still have the one that came with it? |

Nope, fresh out of the original actuator. I went to get the picture and while I was out there I found a heavier spring (from the oil pump on the slant I pulled outta the truck) and swapped it into the rod that I have set up. Took it for a test drive and sure enough I have it set up right like I had planned, just needed a heavier spring is all. So now it builds boost faster, now I just have to keep an eye on my afr so I don't have lean issues. Still debating on whether to run a normal actuator or just stick w what I got. So far I don't mind the setup other than shifting. Seems about the time I get it all spooled up and rolling, I gotta choke it down by letting up and shift. This is with 3:55. Might be a bit better w a 3:23. Rather just let the 904 handle it, run up the boost and it will stay there, no real big drops when it shifts. Maybe w tomorrow bring Xmas eve I'll get a chance to get a pic of the actuator setup I have. |

i know i dont hit full boost in 1st, i think i get pretty close in second. 3rd is the fun gear. 1st and 2nd just spin once it starts spooling anyway. still wouldnt trade it up for an auto though. if you can use it i could send you the stock actuator i took off of my h1c. |

I would def use it, beats the hell outta spender $40 in a new actuator and have to figure out a bracket. I'd love to be able to get up to the boost levels you are. May have to bite the bullet and find a 600dp carb and then build it. Decisions decisions... |

pm me your address. fwiw, ryan peterson, the guy with with the salmon colored 66 valiant managed to get into the low 12's or high 11's (cant remember i know it was fast though) with only 2barrels of his 4barrel. he unhooked the secondaries for tuning. just some food for thought. you dont necessarily need the 4bbl. |

not much to report lately. still running like a champ. i have 600dp im gonna put on in place of the 650. trying to get rid of a bog going from cruise to wot. the new carb should do that nicely. been thinking about the ignition system. if you have been following along then you know i have the mechanical advance limited and still have the vacuum advance hooked up and functioning normally. my thought is to put a spring on the vacuum advance so that it would be advanced all the time. once boost comes on it would retard the timing. i want to do this to help with the slower spool of the larger turbo. i have an extra distributor im gonna try and figure it out on. it should work nicely and lower the under hood temps from running the retarded timing any time im accelerating. hoping to get it to pull the advance around 4psi and have it fully retarded by 10-12psi. gonna take some trial and error finding the right spring. if it works it should be pretty sweet. i would love to use an msd box but im a little short of funds like usual. ill update once i have something figured out. |
