Thanks for telling us the story, sorry for your issues. I try to double check everything, but I seem to have an issue with cam bolts. |

Do any work on the Colt, Stan? Or just working on the Dart? |

Working on both. Also getting close on getting the house garage empty. Working on the Colt steering issues. Merry Christmas Rick! |

I have been tinkering on the truck this last week and trying to get everything back in order. I have probably driven it 30-40 miles and warmed it up 6 or 8 time. Been playing with the choke adjustments to get a nice startup on these cold PA days. Set the timing at 8 degrees and it has about 35 total, so I will likely install a limiter plate in it to get about 28 -30 total. Ryan stopped by last evening and we installed the hood and adjusted. Noticed that my shifting was pretty wonky, so I climbed under the truck and found the cable mounting bracket had moved or gotten bent and it was binding and rubbing on one of my oil lines. Since the one end was fraying a bit, I swapped on the good used one off the race car that was laying on the shelf. Take for a ride! Wow! Much better. Adjusted cable to my liking and called it a day. No leaks at the front at all so far. Maybe a small drip over by the oil pump. But that could have come from the top at the valve cover. About 50# oil pressure cruising. 20# idling hot. Might get it out for a longer run tomorrow. Only thing I want to do is reinstall my 3.55 gears. Then it is ready to race. |

Good report. What gears are in it now? |

I dropped 3.23's in it for the trip to Knoxville. The 3.55's make a nice difference |

3.55's are back where they belong. Truck runs really nice with them in. Makes me kind of forget all those troubles I had a week or two ago! Not! |

I wouldn't think there would be that much difference between 3.23 and 3.55 |

10% more leverage! It is definitely a nice improvement. |

The lawnmower camshaft I installed in this engine is a .506/.492 lift, 240/236 @.050 duration and a 9.2 to 1 compression. I was told not to go much over 220 degrees at .050 when you have an automatic and stock convertor. That is likely good advice but I don't really see much difference between this cam and the previous one as far as driveability. It would be much more fun with a 3000 stall convertor, but it is perfectly fine as a temporary engine until I get the 5 cylinder fixed! This engine is my back up engine for the race car (which I hopefully won't ever need) and probably would be a low 14 second ride in a light race car. 1/4 mile testing will be in May at Mason Dixon. My guess is a 16.99 in a 3600# truck |

Sounds great, Rick. That cam is not too big (on a 225) with 9.2:1. Have fun with it! Lou |

Driven the truck about 100 miles or so. It runs and drives very nice. It has been sitting for about a week since I last ran it. It was 12 degrees here this morning. Waited till mid morning heat wave ( 20 degrees). Went to the garage to see how it would start in these temps. Pumped it twice and cranked it but it needed a couple more pumps of the throttle. Then it fired right up and went to fast idle like a champ. It seems as if I let it sit for longer than 2 or 3 days it takes a couple more pumps of the gas to get going. All in all I am very happy with how it runs. |
