Any guesses on my age?BTW, if you were curious, I am 27. Finished the stereo wiring tonight. Carpet is reinstalled, stereo was tested. I am quite happy with how it sounded, except I believe I have a blown door speaker. I'll check into it tomorrow. Along with (I hope) trimming the edges of the carpet and reinstalling the seat and sillplates. Without that pesky job taking up 10 hours of my day, I might actually finish my 'lofty' goals tomorrow! |

Finally finsihed. Carpet, Sill plates, stereo, everything. ;D Here are the overall shots: This is the amplifier clearance I ended up with. I knew I had room before the install, but I am pretty sure it was dumb luck I ended up with 1/4" clearance on the back side of the seat, about 1/8" for the blue amp (cannot see in pictures). ;D Now here is where I fully expect to catch a lot of flack. I have been using (very) old house-speaker boxes as sub boxes for years. I finally "converted" them. I removed the (unhooked) tweeters, and the port tube (my subs are made for non-ported enclosures), capped the holes with plywood, sealed with glue, and covered the boxes in some grey fabric that somewhat matches the rest of the truck. If I hadn't said anything, I am pretty sure no-one would have ever been the wiser. ;D Side by side comparisons, old to new: When finished. And Installed. Finally, some closer shots of the carpet installed. It makes a world of difference for the look sof the interior, versus the old, destroyed vinyl floor. Now I think I'll drive it for a couple weeks before I dive into my next project. ;D Aaron |

Quote: Seventeen, just like me?
Growing old is inevitable but growing up is strictly optional! Yeah. That made me Seven when my grandaughter was born... Yeah that's it.... The wife swears to her friends I'm, like 12. And not to get too far off topic... That's a great looking truck, makes me wish I still had my '82. |

Just wanted to say I've enjoyed watching the progress on your truck; it's given me several idea on the direction I want to go w/ mine ('82 D150). I must say though, you've gotta have short legs if you can stand those huge boxes behind the seat! |

Thanks. As for the short legs...not really. I'm not very tall (5'9"), but the seat is all the way back (I guess my legs are long for my height). The top of the boxes *just* clear the back of the seat ( ± 1/8" )with it all the way back.

Third brake light is installed and working. Off. On. I cannibalized my $6 JCWhitney third brake light for its red lens and two incandenscant bulbs, sockets, and wiring. Fabbed a mount for the ligh sockets inside the cargo light case, cut the red lens to size for the cargo light, then replaced the original clear lens over the red lens. For power to the light, I just tapped into the 'cold' side of the brake switch. All the wiring still runs through the factory connectors. I utilized the cargo light power wire, pulled its pin in the connector near the e-brake, soldered the pin to a new wire, reinstalled the pin, and ran it to the brake switch. I have more pictures showing most of the above, but do not have them uploaded to the internet yet. I'll post the install pictures later. I am very happy with how it turned out. -S/6 |

Dang! That's one beautiful truck! Congratulations, dude. This's inspiration - I just bought an '87 shortbed. John P.S. By the way, age doesn't matter, unless you've gotten a raw deal like me; I'm a teenager trapped in a 53 year old body. |
