I just got the Email back from Keisler. They do not offer a Slant Six bell housing for there Auto or TKO tranny setups. Your freind must have been using a GM bellhousing with the /6 adaptor from Transmission Adaptors.
See, my earlier statement about common sense is validated once again.

For the smallblock TKO setup, they fasten a steel plate to the back of the bell and machine it for the TKO trans, much like the T5 group buy bell was done. Why would a slant 6 bell be any more difficult for Keisler to do? It's not like they have to cast a different bellhousing or something. I don't get it.

About the guy in Seattle, don't know for sure. I'm almost certain that he talked about them doing the bellhousing. I do know he wasn't happy with the kit, though. He did use their hydraulic throw out bearing kit as well.

In the end, it might be a mute point anyways. The adapter I am ordering is .9" thick and that puts me right at the edge of full spline engagement with the clutch. If the plate Keisler puts on the back of the bell, plus the thickness of the Advanced Adapters plate is more than this, it might be too much. I'm not sure if shimming the flywheel out 1/8" would be a big deal or not, but if it would work, that would put the max adapter thickness at 1.025. Then again, 1/8" might create interference between the pressure plate and bell, or cause problems with the starter gear meshing. 1/8" is the most I would go, BTW.

Am I going to get band for being wrong? :)

Didn't Keisler offer a swap for a slant six? Sure seems like they did.

Wonder what the guy in MCG (the green EFI Valiant) did for a bellhousing.

Ok, here is a clip from the Keisler website:

MACHINING OF BELLHOUSING CORE – Custom machining of customer-supplied bellhousing core (except Lakewood, available at extra cost). We re-machine your Mopar core in-house with computer-controlled CNC systems to ensure high accuracy of centering, flatness, parallelism and engine mounting. (Dowel pins bored and brushed; engine mounting holes spot faced.)

From that, I could see why a slant 6 bell and a SB bell wouldn't be a direct swap, machining wise. Seems like overkill to me, though. It's not like the dowel pins on the motor are 100% perfect everytime, so it's not like the machining on the engine side of the bell is going to guarantee accurate centering of the input shaft.

If Keisler would forget the engine side of the bell, the machining on the transmission side would be identical.

I guess you could use the Advanced Adapters plate and just modify an OD bell to match. See this this thread for how he got the Dakota trans to bolt to the /6 bell. I am certain the bottom two holes would line up and the top two would require adding material to the bell. You would still need a ring to make up the difference between the Ford bearing retainer od and the overdrive bellhousing hole. Not sure about the TO bearing and fork, though. This method would solve the adapter thickness issue. The only advantages I see to this, versus my method, is you might be able to bolt the trans to the bell after bolting the bell to the motor (mine isn't going to do that) and if you ever decide to go TKO, it will bolt right up.

You might be able to go as thick as 1" on the total adapter thickness, but I would do some mockup work before I ordered anything. I suggested the Keisler modded bell and AA plate because everything would bolt together without cutting and drilling. I didn't think about the adapter thickness and input shaft length issue, and for that I apologize.

No, Keisler used to offer the slant six bell conversion (I saw it listed on their site for at least several months a few years back). I had my eye on it for a long time, back when I thought I could afford it one day. The fact that they no longer list it on their site doesn't surprise me, but the fact that they won't even modify one on request does. Glad I decided to get in on the T5 group buy instead.
Ok, missed this reply. My post went to page 3 and your reply hit while I was typing mine.

So I'm not crazy. I thought they had listed a /6 kit at one time.

Funny thing is, if they would just skip the engine side of the bell and index their machining off the center hole for the bearing retainer, /6 or SB wouldn't matter. If they wont, then I guess this idea is out.
