I have talked with Seymour several times and from what I understand it is not so much the newsletter publication that has "reduced his interest" but the low attendance numbers especially in those races that used to draw 10+ car count. Many of these races have been well established and from larger areas of population. What has happened to Pittsburgh..What has happened to Valposta? Who was there before and why aren't they coming still? Sure, the gas cost are higher but slant6 racing is a sport and any sport you undertake cost $$ to participate. We live in a small farming community of less than 100,000 population and we have not been a well established area for slant6 racing. We continue to grow but it takes time to contact via phone, emails, website, working with track management, and most of all...(I know you are getting tired of hearing this) GET NEW CARS OUT TO THE TRACK FOR THE FIRST TIME... I would bet the "farm" that if Pittsburgh and Valposta had 12+ cars at their events we would not be "ping-ponging" this dicussion. (forgive my continual spellin' errors). If we don't want to resurrect some of the low attendedEast of the Mississippi events and no one wants to step-up-to-the plate to make changes, then maybe we should consider combining or eliminating some of the races for 2008. Personally, I would not like to see that ....There are cars out there...I think just on the website there are nearly 3000 on the membership list...There is interest..there are cars out there..Ideas from East of the Mississippi will be appreciated..

Valdosta was a 2nd year event. 2006 had 12 cars show up, with 10 making 1st round. There were many reasons/excuses for a low car count this year. Some of the cars from last year, were not race ready at the time (just bearly got mine done). It is a long tow for most of the Hard core racers. Last but not least was the forest fires in the area, the smoke was a big issue, along with intermittent road closures.
But I did think we would have more cars then we did, with the amount of the purse. $500 on saturday (no points) and $1,000 on sunday for the points race. I do thank the racers who came, and some of the racers, whose cars were not ready, still came to watch. I just hope the promoter, does not throw in the towel for next year.

I haven't tried it yet, but based on the company's reputation, I think anyone considering an online version of the slant six racing news should take a look at 'Google Docs'.

The software allows for a group to edit a document online without installing any software on their computer. All you need is an internet connection. I think it is free or low cost to use as well. (I bet there is a limit to file size for the free version, that's common)
This could really work! Anyone interested in helping me out with this should send me a pm and see what they can do to learn about using the Google doc system. Maybe get an account and try it out.

I'll start by getting an account and setting up a work space so we can all fool around a little to get the idea of working together.

Any takers?

Paul
