Matt, your idea is pretty similar to what I'm doing. I've bought the parts, now I just need time to assemble them. I will be making a supra type manifold which will bolt onto the pierce manifold; it will have 11" runners. Here's what I've got:

Triple Weber manifold from Pierce - $352 (tapped myself for injector bungs)
50mm Idf weld plates from Extrudabody.com - $38 each (three needed)
5" D plenum from RossMachineRacing.com $90
2" OD aluminum tubing - 3feet from RossMachineRacing.com $30
2" velocity stacks from RossMachineRacing.com $234.00
75mm Throttle body adaptor and end plate for D plenum from RossMachineRacing.com $69
Mustang TB with IAC from junkyard $25
24" Fuel Rail kit from extrudabody $99
Camaro 28lb EV6 fuel injectors - Ebay $150
Megasquirt DIY kit with all sensors, relay board, jimstim, etc from DIYAutotune.com $572
Fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump from Summit $250

I will use the original fuel pump to pump into a multiport fuel filter and an external pump from there. This cycles back to the filter and overflows to the return line. I'm going to tie the return line into the fuel filler neck.

I'll also be using the Ford EDIS system to go distributorless.

So far I have less than $2000 invested for a complete system. You could shave about $400 from this cost and make things easier if you just want to bolt the D plenum directly to the weber manifold, but I wanted long runners. To make it easier you could add a couple hundred to the megasquirt kit to have them build it for you.

Either way, this is a fairly bolt on system. (of course throttle body mounting would be more difficult with an auto trans...

Sounds like a pretty interesting idea for the manifold - I've seen a couple of the Ross manifold pieces on other engines, and the results often don't look homemade at all.

That sounds like a nice plan, Moose. Thanks for posting those parts sources too. I am thinking about an IR system for my '64 Dart - sick of TBI.

Best,

Lou

The Ross pieces are very nice. Worth the money, I think. One thing I should mention too, is that using the 3x weber manifold will require you to use headers or dual Dutra Duals since there is no provision for the heat pocket.

Hopefully, I'll have time to braze the pieces together this weekend. I'll post pics of the manifold when complete.

I haven't used a stock manifold in years...

Post subject:  Cheap SMPI?

I'd like to hear from someone who has swapped a complete 4.0L Jeep, newer the better, system onto a /6, JTEC controller, throttle body, wiring, and all...

Using 2000-up would be best (DIS), but you'd need to use a coil pack from a 3.3/3.8L, etc.

'Been done?

Don't think a 2000 up jeep efi would be possible as it uses a strange crank trigger if i remember correctley... I think Matt Cramer is the one who shot that idea down in another thread? Matt I don't mean to put words in your mouth so correct me if need be..
