Can someone post a link to a picture of the Dutra duals? Are they still made out of two regular exhaust manifolds?

Here is my set-up.

Don't forget this was a "pipe" vs header experiment. If someone was crazy enough to put a factory style manifold on this engine I'm sure the power would drop significantly. I know there are some dynamic differences between V8s & straight 6s. It all boils down to making the big old air pump efficient. To bad twister will not post the data. I'm guessing it works better then a factory manifold (how much though) but not as good as headers....how that for narrowing it down?

The "Dutra" exhaust manifold is a new casting.
There is an option the use 2 of the new castings or use a modified factory exhaust manifold in order to keep all the factory hook-ups and intake manifold heat.

Don't take me the wrong way...I'm not endorsing this product only the possibility of the theory working (to a degree). Personally, I would put a set of headers on. You're right Dan, there was little if any testing done with tube lengths...etc. The only requirement may have been that it fit in the stock location. Now, if the Slant was a two stroke....it might work as a decent expansion chamber.

I just think the whole situation is sad.

I am all for new people creating parts for the six, or "home built" improvements for anything for that matter, If only the original questions asked of him would have been answered directly, none of this would be going on as it is.

its really too bad, because I'd like to see more options available.

if only, if only.... :?

It looks like even without logging in, you can access this photo of the log-style manifold that was tested on the big high-zoot V8 engine:

Obviously quite different in concept, design, and build compared to the "PowerPipe"!

If he wants to send me one, I'll put it on and take it to the chassis dyno. I have the before results. Granted, I have a turbo set up and may not show as dramaic of a change as say a NA engine.

The stock slant-6 exhaust manifold is actually pretty good compared to the stock log manifolds of V-8s......................

So the header-pipe may work better against the V-8 log manifold, but I bet the stock slant-6 manifold works better. If you do some port-matching and smooth out the inside (something like extrude-hone, but just use sanding flap wheels) I think the stock (slightly modified) exhaust is your best bang for the buck........

The unfortunate part is that when originally posted, the Powerpipe was supposed to be better than a header, make more power, be faster, and cheaper than a set of headers. When pressed, Mr. Twister would not post any info he promised, and then it all became a big pissing match with him refusing to post even a price. Then he started dissing Doug's product which has been proven for years.

Board members have actually seen the pipe in person and it is a poorly made piece of overly priced piece of crap. (IIRC it is over $350)

Believe it or not, I originally thought it was a decent idea, and could be a mid-range between a header and stock manifold. I even gave a couple tips on making it better before he and his wife spazzed out.

The product could be a btter deal than a pound of gold for $10, but their inability to supply even the simplest info killed it deader than Kelsey's nuts. :?

...and insulate your house! Filter your coffee! Fight greasy buildup on your stove, hard-water spots on your fine glassware, ring-around-the-collar and ring-around-the-tub! It's a floor wax...and a dessert topping!

...in my opinion, of course

Speaking of which, since it's Friday, here's a topical clip from the very funny Hungarian-Canadian stand-up comic, Elvira Kurt.
