I looked into the hemi's and read a lot on the bigblockdart.com / hemi.com. The only thing I'm confused about is why the hemi cars at woodburn were running 15's maybe 14's, while Fopar was kicking their butts? Anyways yes they can quickly jump up in some horsepower and look like some good engines, but for a hot rod engine you tear down and make your own they didn't look like a good candidate. The last 340 my family has been playing with has been a lot more fun. To put in my car was simply just a pain, plus their was no way to easily adapt the engine without getting a RMS system, so good luck hope you enjoy.

True it takes some electronics to get it to run, but only running high 14s and 15s, you must be mistaken. They run 15s in a 5200lb Chryler 300c from the factory. Put that in a 3000lbd A-body and your in the 13s easy.

A 300C is about 4000-4200, from what I've seen/read.

Advertised base curb weight of an '08 300C is 3725 lb. Add for common options and the V-8 "Hemi" engine as well as the weight of the driver and 4000-4200 certainly seems reasonable.

If its too good to be true....

Thought I remember reading that those crate motors should be taken apart and everything checked since factory machine work wasn't the best. That was a while back though...

Yes and no. You're thinking the big-block crate motors (both wedge and Hemi), which are special production items that are contracted out by Chrysler and have had highly variable build quality depending on which foundry does the casting and who got the finish-out machine contract.

The LA (5.9) crate motors and now the Neu Hemi crate motors are off-the-production-line blocks and internals, and are of comparable quality control to what you would find in a Charger, Magnum, 300C, or pickup truck down at the dealer.

I havn't heard that. This is not a "Crate" motor, even though it'll be coming in a crate. This is a production over run motor. This/These motors where slated for the Chrysler 300C and Charger R/Ts.

Actually, the Mopar Performance crate hemi version is based on the truck block (different accessory mounting locations) which is more compatible with vintage muscle cars than the block that goes in the LX cars. But that's being nit-picky, yes it is a "production" hard-parts engine. But it is a true "crate" motor at least as much as the crate 360 was. Its tailored for retrofitting to old cars.

neat! please keep us posted. I'm sure there's some board members that doesn't mind that your car has no more the original drivetrain. Don't be a stranger.

EDIT: besides, the motor kinda looks "slanted" on the engine bay

have you driven it yet? I'm sure you'll be happy with the results.

Nice photo-chop. You should have at least gotten the engine square in the body and blacked out what's left of the red slant block.
