Like a carb, that depends on how much effort and time you put into tunning it. I've been reading the MS forum for over a year now and from what I gather it is simple to get your car running. The more time spent on tunning, the better the results are. www.MSefi.com is where you will find your answers.

Ok, well not to dish on the carb guys, but those things are dinosaurs now compared to tuning with the laptop. It looked extremely intemidating when I first started, but I know it's a lot easier than turning screws and changing jets. The mileage isn't very reliable cause I haven't had much of a chance to drive the Duster cause we keep monkeying with it. I drove it for two weeks and was leaning on it pretty hard but going down the freeway with 15:1 stoich I was getting 24 and could still launch like no one's business. I got an overdrive four speed, but now roll on 3.73 gears.
The biggest problem is I stole a TBI unit off a 350 so I'm feeding monster fuel in my opinion to a motor that isn't quite that hot yet.
Not only is the fuel adjustable, but I can adjust the timing through the HEI also. So is fuel injection better, or carbs? All personal opinions, but either way defintley need to upgrade the slant's intake or engine for that matter to the newest technology you can to really make it a competitor. Once again my opinion, but I've been reading everything I can by the Supra and Skyline guys to apply to the next engine.

Yeah, but when OSP hits your duster with their Emag gun for doing 90+ down I-5 your duster will screech to a halt, while the rest of us will just keep going, until the spikes get laid down... (also if fuel quality continues to be a sore Oregon subject- like the days when you could strain a cup of sand out of a gallon of BP gas from the station on lancaster and Silverton Rd.... your fine strain 8 micron filter will need more changing than once a year....)

What dish was that... Oh Bacon Bits!

Let see if I get a dead battery, I just roll it down hill and pop the clutch, instead of jumping the battery and hoping the prom doesn't fry when the charging system gets a spike... or wait, you have to wait 5 minutes to have enough juice to run the prom and keep it firing off your battery...

"Dad!!! Can you come with a replacement battery? Mine died..."

touche'
I always like a good spar with the carb guys, the only thing is I can get in the car fire and go. Other than that if I ever get caught in a Fast and Furious movie I'll be nervous about the E-mag gun. Oh wait, I'll feel safer in jail than when my dad finds out I was speeding.

Can't believe about the quality of gas you were talking about. Haven't rolled through Silverton in a while, of course St. Paul probably won't have anything but farm diesel soon.

I just get in the car, and go, this morning I fired it over and backed it out of the driveway and got over to I-5 and let it have it ... if you properly tune the carb it's a no problem type deal.... (New Holley 4 barrel on Hyperpak: 2 jet changes, one power valve upgrade and 2 hours of fun with the vacc. gauge)...

That's not Silverton, that's NE Salem... (and after that state congress BS about appointing a dept. to 'test' the quality of gas...)

So how do you program that part of your fuel map, when you dad doesn't let you do 100? (for me it's change the secondary spring: two screws/1 minute... test... change secondary jets 10 minutes...) Look on the farmers face seeing a buzzin' blue streak doing 127 down the road... priceless....

You ain't engineering until you push it, break it, and see if your paperwork was right....

Worried about aliens? Just whip a faraday cage to put your ECU in and wave bye-bye to the E-mag gun wielding aliens....

Um, how do you connect the ECU to the engine without providing a path for EMI/RFI?
