that's a pretty optimistic number for clifford shorties, especially if you need it done NOW and new ones go for over $300 without the y-pipe. do you have pictures of the pipes that were bent for you? and who did the work?

this is not the type of smokin' deal you are just going to find anywhere, and i'll bet long odds the OP is not so well-connected in the slant community. i sure wasnt when i had mine done. i walked in the door and they did a super clean job from start to finish in a day's time.

as i said, good luck.
i would like to see a beginner walk into a swap meet uneducated without losing their shirt, it would restore my faith in the human race. dont take your obvious experience and knowledge for granted, there are just as many BAD deals at swap meets as there are good ones and not just anybody can jump into the swapmeets and come away with good deals all day long, you KNOW this.
you can just as easily get burnt at a disreputable muffler shop.
I took my daily driver to a shop with a very good reputation and got what i gladly paid for.
You put together an exhaust system that obviously gets you down the track fast enough with a swapmeet find and a set of mcPipes, Good for you.
With any less brains both of us would have either paid a LOT more and/or waited a LOT longer, or gotten a LOT less.

lets xXBOTHXx be a little more realistic when advising newbz in the future, kthanxbai~
I got my clifford shorties with Y-pipe at carlisle for $75, my Cherry Bomb Turbo Muffler for $19.95 and had a shop bend a 2 1/2" pipe from the Y-pipe to the muffler and a 2 1/4" pipe out the back for $90. Thats $195 for a killer sounding slant, ask Lou.
Dam,all that crap and the best you can do is a low 16?
Ya,your the guy I want to listen to.
What a joke,a stock Pinto will run better than that.

You can kind of hear my exhaust in this video, my system is 2 1/4 inch coming off a set of mandrel bent headers and going through a flow through muffler (not sure of what the US equivalent is). This is all about to be changed for a much more sedate system, will still be 2 1/4 but will most likely include a resonator to kill the drone at 50 - 60mph, mind you the 3.7 gears don't help much either. Of course this new setup will be designed to be disconnected at the headers and clamped out of the way for the track

Please step away from the crack pipe.....

I had my exuast installed almost 9 years ago 6-1 header 2.5" back to a 40 series flowmaster turned down in front of the axle. It cost me just under 500, i think if you look around you should be able to find a shop that is reasonable. As a side note i just got a quote for my crew cab long bed, headers back with flowmasters they said 450 out the door.
