Flowmaster mufflers are loud and provide a level of interior resonance that most cannot stand for long. A better choice for both power and sound if you want loud is the Hooker Aero Chamber. I don't like mine that loud since I take my car on long trips so I use the standard Dynomax Super Turbo. The Dynomax Ultra Flow is in between the Hooker Aero Chamber and Dynomax Super Turbo for noise. I've used the Flowmaster 40, the Dynomax Super Turbo and the Dynomax Ultra Flow. For my dollar I like the Dynomax Super turbo on the slant. |

Well, I think that Dynamax Super Turbo Muffler would be cool, I think I changed my mind from Flowmaster 40 to Dynamax Super Turbo w/ 2 1/4 pipe. Plus, Dynamax says "lifetime warranty" on the muffler....so if it rusts out or breaks, just get another one from them for free. |

I have a flowmaster 40 series and have been very happy with it so far. Its quieter in the cab than my old glass pack and sounds a million times better outside the car. Its not loud or obnoxious at all, just a good quality sound for my car. Other guys havent had as much luck so maybe it depends on what modifcations and vehicle type you have. |

I got a Craftsman for like $200 at Sears. On the high setting, it burns a good weld, and on low it does a great job on sheet metal. It's also too wimpy to blow the antique circuit breakers in my tenement home. It's one of the funnest things I ever bought. It says "made in Italy", but I still like it. |

ESP47, your flowmaster 40 sounds quiet and is quieter than the old glasspack? Are you running dual exhaust, what mods have you done on your slant? I only changed my mind from the Flowmaster 40's because of many saying that's it's very loud in the cab and rediculous outside...but, if it's not, then i'll stick with the Flowmasters |

I have a flowmaster 40 on my car but it is striped for racing which makes it louder. It is not too loud, its not inaudible either. I say get one and try it ,see if you like it. If you like to hear the engine run you will love it, if not well put somthing else on. TF |

I look at it this way, Im young and I like loud. I want to show people I actually HAVE an engine under the hood. You can sorta hear my car going down the road with the "turbo" muffler, but I want to hear more. |

There are alot of companies out that make that chamber design, since Flowmaster lost the patent, and they are made for alot less money. I used to buy mine at Meineke, exact same muffler, just one didn't say Flowmaster (nor did it have the $$$$ attached to it). I picked up one of those for 50 bucks new, and if they put it on... lifetime warranty anyways. ~THOR~ |

I can barely hear my engine right now with stock exhaust and muff....when I bought it I asked the guy if he could turn up the idle or something cuz I couldn't even hear it running at idle Anyways, heck, I am back on for Flowmaster 40's style mufflers then!!! What "offbrands" are there that are Flowmaster 40 style?? |

Raptor, Thrush, Dynamax, Magnaflow, hell even Cherry Bomb makes one... not to mention "no-name" ones that looks/sound the same that you can buy at muffler shops. ~THOR~ |
