Okay. This is how I know that I need the hub from PDX. I just asked my Ex to get it for me and bring it up. Ugh.
Can't find anything up here other than the one Joshie found in Longview.
If I had super powers they would be to make my car work right. Right NOW!

Yay! :D Hopefully Wildcat didn't gouge you too bad. Sure you want to trade in your Swinger on the Grandma car? Unless you put the Swinger emblems on the Pontiac and had a "Swinger Grandma" or a "Grandma Swinger".

Compared to getting a new drum at Napa or Schucks, they are not gouging me at all! $60 for the hub/drum and $20 for shipping. Schucks had the drum for $75 alone. I'm pretty stoked. I am going to need some sort of assistance with the replacement though I'm sure.

And actually Reed, I am so on the fence about trading her it isnt even funny. With having a kiddo I really need something super reliable with seat belts that actually work with a booster seat.

The Grandma car is awfully Red. I like that.
Charlie sure is pretty though.....dang it. I'm sure I will keep her. The pitman arm isn't going to too expensive to replace and then the ball joints need doing. I'll take her up to Noel for all that I think.

Burnside Used Truck Parts in Portland showed a drum for $25. Did they not want to ship?

Ddin't call them. Since you said I needed the hub rather than the drum.
I'm okay with having Wildcat ship it.

I explained in my PM that a used drum will come with the hub. New drums do not come with hubs. At least it's only a $35 mistake.

Ball joints aren't really all that hard on an A-body. I have the special socket for the uppers if you want to borrow it, as well as the lower ball joint removal tools. The pittman arm isn't that hard either, and when you replace the ball joints you will already be using all the tools you need to replace the pittman arm.

Joshie...I'm pretty sure, coming from Wildcat, this isnt a new item. I could be wrong. I'm a rookie what can I say?

Thanks Reed! I may take you up on that just so I don't have to make the trek to the shop. I'm just worried that I will get under my car and have no clue what to do. Guess that's how you learn though, right?? :D

Yep. On A-bodies, lower ball joints are two bolts on the wheel spindle and one nut on the steering linkage. You need a BFH, ball joint removal tool (pickle fork), rathet set, and the special socket for the upper ball joints. The pittman arm needs the BFH (BIG freaking hammer), pickle fork, and a ratchet set. A front end alignment after you do all this is a very good idea.

Whereabouts do you live? If you are closer to Tacoma than to Noel's shop, and can wait a bit, I could help you do the ball joints and pittman arm. My schedule is fairly full right now, but if you can give me a few weeks to clear my decks I could help you replace the ball joints and Pittman arm. I would estimate that it would take a full day, allowing time for mishaps and forgotten steps.

I appreciate it Reed.
I am actually in a pickle due to the fact that I am supposed to be moving this weekend. Good time for the car to stop. I have to try and get the work done as soon as I get the parts.
I'm in Renton.

Keep ya posted.....

Going home. Tired.
