Thanks for the answer - hard starting. I hadn't considered that.

I watch a lot of the videos on Jay Lenos Garage (jaylenosgarage.com - a fantastic place to spend 10 hours watching videos of his cars). Many of his pre-war cars have the spark advance on a mechanism attached to the steering wheel. I'm starting to want something like that.

Actually, I'm starting to think about megasquirt. I'm starting to see the benefits.
