Change of plans. I found a cast aluminum carb hat from a GM Turbo. 5-1/4" OD, 2-1/2" inlet. Inlet is 3 to 5-1/2" above top of carb. I'm thinking it's about as good as good gets for 75.00.

Painted engine with DuPont Centari. Color VW/Audi L96Y. I think its too blue but it looks good.

Hello ken,

I am the guy who mailed you from France yesterday.
You made a very nice job on a very nice car.
Rustoleum is a very good product, I used it to stop the rust on floor pans and frames on French cars, a Citroen 2 cv, a Citroen DS, and a Peugeot 403.
I will follow your topic to get information for the restoration of my car which is the same as yours. They are very rare in France and, thanks to the informaton on the forum, I hope i manage it.

Post subject:  under hood wiring

I picked up a fuse/relay box from a late model Crown Vic. My car came with no fuses. So far the wiring is shaping up pretty well.
Relay for fuel pump, HEI and horns with one space left.
I mounted it on the radiator support on the passenger side. Coil and module just below it. The master boost control and voltage regulator on the fender immediately adjacent.

While I was at it I nabbed the windshield solvent tank and pump. Its a nice fit at the top of the fender. Just behind that I mounted the starter solenoid.

Post subject:  Z bar bushings and spring clips

After installing the tranny I decided to look into straightening out the clutch linkage. I found a part number for z bar bushings and went to a dodge dealer to check it out. The part is the same all the way through the early 1980's slant six pick up trucks. Be advised they come packaged 1/2 of one bushing per unit package- which means 4 half bushings are required. Spring clips, too. They are still stocked at dealers.

Yes for the ratio is NORMALLY 2:1:.5..... in other words 2 parts paint, 1 part reducer, .5 hardener. (ie: 8oz paint, 4 oz reducer, 1 oz of hardener) and I know, I know, states having the regs they have makes it tough, but its not like you are in business drawing customers and attention to yourself, so I would just reduce it to the specs listed if you are using a quality paint gun. Just be sure to wear a quality respirator. Last car I painted was a base coat clear coat affair, and not knowing the ins and outs of 2 part system vs. the single stage was an eye opener, but job came out ok. Where oh where has the good ole paint gone? :roll:

I opted for the Ford box because I liked the size and mounting. I admit I didn't look at all that many options. I have more straightening up to do as well as relocating the battery to the trunk.

I'm making some progress. Intake/exhaust/carb installed. Throttle linkage just needs return springs.

Next is fuel pump and regulator and its break-in time. :lol:
Then I can install turbo and start playing around.

I broke in the engine with comp break in oil. I took it out and shook out some minor bugs. The tranny is smooth as silk. I still haven't wired the overdrive unit though.

The disc brake kit was worth every penny.

The 500 CFM Holley may be a bit much, but so far it idles. accelerates and cruises fine. I'll be checking mpg. 1 bbl with standard trans gave me 19 mpg before engine rebuild.

A week or so of daily driving and I'll start the turbo install.

Borg Warner R10J I think the trans is a T85. Modified the bell housing and flywheel and used a 10" clutch disc from a '63 Dodge pick-up.
