You are aware that the program is hp and tq at the crank and not at the rear wheels, the trucks measurements are at the rear wheels so that's pretty close with drivetrain losses at 170/260 at the rear wheels but the smaller engine has to run at higher rpm to make up for the lack of displacement the v-8 has...
Sorry, I wasn't aware when I was looking at the hp/torque chart of RAM engines that the measurements were taken at the wheels. I've never looked much at stock power on anything I've owned, the only car I've owned where I felt hp/torque really mattered to me was my Foxbody Mustang, and I only looked at engine dyno stats on the crate engine in it.

Those numbers are too high to be useable in a truck anyway, you are looking at the value down low since you aren't going to be peaking above a certain rpm on the highway... peak at no more than 3000 rpm.
*facepalm* Yeah, I knew that, it was just late and I was looking only at peaks to get an idea of potential. I'm still not sure which cam you were suggesting. The only threads I've read by Motogrey were one on a Dart, and one on a truck using a hydraulic cam. I had come to the conclusion that it was best to stay mechanical.

Another issue to cover is: Do you have an adapter plate to mate the /6 to the LA bellhousing?
Do you recommend using the tranny from the 318 over the 225? The slant came out of a Volare wagon which is easily around the same weight as the truck. The truck is only 2wd, and I'm not sure yet which transmission is in it, but if it doesn't have overdrive (and this is about as base model as you can get with this truck), it should be a A500 which is a 4 speed derivative of the A904 I have on the slant. I'm probably going to replace the driveshaft with a double cardan anyway, because these 2wd trucks sit much too low and have far to tiny wheels for my taste, so I'm thinking I'd like to stick with the 3 speed.
