Ok I'm learning slowly The carb on there now is not original (ebay) and uses a screw to set the idle speed. I was not aware there were so many different 1945s. |

Many different versions and calibrations, and we haven't even talked about 6145s. |

I hooked the dist vacuum advance to the EGR (venturi) vacuum port as an experiment. Haven't done any testing with the vacuum gauge and timing light, but she's running pretty nice. Thoughts? |

Sitting in my garage, I get no vacuum at any RPM on the EGR port whilst revving the motor to redline. |

How's it going gents? I put everything back to stock after trying four different carbs and throwing more parts at my truck than I would like to admit. Add countless hours of labor over then last fifteen months. I replaced the brake booster and it kind of helped. The brakes work way better now, so I guess it was shot. But the glitch just off idle and the stumbling/missing at idle after warmup persisted. Hours (more like days) of playing with the timing and carb adjustments yielded no relief. On the bright side, I learned a lot. Then I took her to a local shop that a Moparhead owns. He mentioned he had owned a couple slants. I told him to keep the truck as long as he likes and no hurry. I said drive it and I'll buy the gas. He says 'we need a shop truck right now'. Perfect I say. Three weeks later he calls....intake manifold leak and a bad one he says. No idea how he found it. Remflex gasket on the way. |

I hope that helps. However, a new intake manifold gasket won't fix the lack of vacuum advance and the missing idle speed solenoid. |

The carb on there now it the stock PN so it has it has the right advance. None at idle. Glad you reminded me Reed! I need to take that solenoid I removed to the shop when the gasket comes in. |
