My joke is that the weather in Western Washington is 45 and rainy/cloudy from about October to March. For example, right now it is 43.5 and cloudy. I call it living in the doldrums because the weather is so consistent.

I understand about being in a cold climate. When I was growing up in Alaska, 20 degrees was a warm January day. Usually it got so cold in January and February that it never snowed. It would only snow in October-December and then late February-early April when the temperature was warm enough. I remember waiting for the bus to go to school in total darkness and -20 F, minus wind chill. Anchorage got so much snow that roads that were four lane roads in the summer (two in each direction plus center turn lane) became two lane roads in the winter (snow burms on each outer lane, driving about over the dotted line separate the lanes, smaller snow burm filling the middle turn lane).

Consistent? Yesterday in Winlock we had Sun, rain, hail, rain/snow mix, and lightning with the temperature going from 48 to 36 then to 42.
