Slant six thin wall casting? What is he talking about?

Not sure he is aware that some people bore out even further than .060. Is he going to race on stock pistons? Seems like a lot of work lightening everything to use the stock type pistons that are so large.

Interested in how well the end product is even if I'm not terribly interested in watching all of the videos.

Hey doesn't elaborate on the block mods to reduce weight. I see in the video where the bell housing area has been cut away. I am curious as to what all has been ground on the block and what the end result was.

I took some time to watch some of his Slant 6 videos.

Spending hours just grinding/sanding on something like that is actually something I would enjoy. It's somehow soothing to me. Does that make me an artist like Tony? :mrgreen:

Looking at the swiss cheese job on that Dart front end without any structural offset makes me wonder about how flimsly it is.

He says the Dart is down to 2,100 lbs with all the stock glass still in it. That's getting pretty light.

Norm Foster's Dart with lexan windows, fiberglass hood, aluminum floors, etc is more than a couple hundred lbs heavier.

He mentions 2,115 ready to go with his "F@t @$$" in it... That's very, very light. Not sure what scale he uses... :| :?

Welded 7 1/4 and the A903 three speed help reduce some weight.

The car does have LOTs of holes in it, but that does sound incredible light with ANY driver.

I checked again to make sure I wasn't misquoting what I saw.

He said the Dart is 2,117 now, which he calls a bit heavy. He wants the car itself to be 2,050.

The goal is a starting line weight with him in it of 2,250. He said they have about 60 lbs to go to meet that.

Swiss cheese apparently removes a lot of weight. I also don’t believe he has any roll bar or cage in it.

I appreciate that he is giving the Slant some love. He has another 12 part series where he helps a couple novices pull and rebuild a 170 out of the guys daily driver 63 Valiant. I stumbled onto that last night.

Unfortantly if he does run his stated 11's he will have to add a roll gage, scatter shield and drive shaft loop. Which will negate all that block lightening. Isn't the guzzy car at 2300, with Mark in it?

It would be cheaper and easier to build a T-Bucket, and drop the slant in that. ( yeah I have thought about that, if I cut doors into the Fiberglas, would it be a door slammer?)

Cage isn't required until 11:50. However, I can honestly tell you that running that fast in a cut up car with no cage is scary.

I missed that part about running 11s but I am sure he mentioned it. The original project was dubbed something like 12.99ET for $1299.00. If he does that I will be impressed.
